WHY IS DISCRIMINATION AGAINST WHITES NOW AN ACCEPTED BEHAVIOR IN OUR COUNTRY?

I think it's been that way for a long time. Have you ever noticed that commercials for alarm systems always have white actors as the criminals?

My wife is a teacher at an inner city school. Whenever kids misbehave she punishes them by not taking the bad kids on field trips. There was another teacher with an all black class. She had a few bad kids that she didn't want to take on a field trip. The assistant principal told her that she had to take ALL the kids on the trip because she was afraid they would be accused of racism. So I guess it's OK to punish the white kids, but not the black kids. Before anyone calls me racist, this is something that actually happened. I'm not making it up.

I think it's just a simple case of judging the whole from a select few. Like a white person judging all blacks to be uneducated cocaine dealing welfare sponges because of dealings with a select few in that category. Same goes for an educated black family living next to a bunch of white crack hoes. Or 10 mexicans who pile into one pickup truck. It's not the entire race that should be judged by those select few...they just give the race a bad name or a bad rap.....and that stinks! I'm very lucky that I have never been prejudiced against and I hope never to personally encounter it. I know that I have racist thoughts once in a while and know that I go beserk when I see the mexicans down the street leaving their beer cans on the lawn while they crank up their freekin' circus music and letting their chickens run amok through the streets. But to think that every black man who I see drives a Mercedes must have stolen it is just asinine. I hope you really do see the good in every race and in every one....I think it would make the world a much easier place to live in.

a group of firefighters have sued over this issue. it seems that the test previously required has been suspended because black have not been able to pass it and weren't getting promoted.

the white and Latinos have not been selected for promotions since the test was suspended so they are suing that this is reverse discrimination.

i believe that it is just that, discrimination. anyone should be able to be promoted based on qualifications that all must adhere to and pass. that is true equality.

we see this in other instances as well and even in the military. a list is made of qualified applicants for promotion but many times the person listed very low on the results are the ones who receive promotion simply because a quote must be filled and the most qualified are denied simply because they are the wrong color.

this weakens everyone. i believe in equality and that all should be promoted based on merit not color.

What does NOT get brought up, is how most white Americans do NOT have ancestors who were slave-owners.

I have had to work often at Ellis Island, the former Immigration Station, now a museum. Aside from the millions of whites that came through here, I would say that 85% of white Americans do NOT have provable ancestry dating back to pre-Civil War times, and many who do, did not own slaves.

My family came here in the 1640's.. poor. You need money for slaves, and there is no record of it in my family's history.

Besides, plantations were huge. Only a small percentage of land owners owned the majority of slaves.

So can we now stop the "partial acceptance" of reverse discrimination, by instead accepting that most of our ancestors did not own slaves?

It's always been that way. A lot of ignorant people think that there is no such thing as racism against whites. This is one of the most ignorant things I have EVER heard. I guess they think "turn about is fair play". A lot of people feel that whites have had it easy (which is not even close to the truth), so it's our turn to be treated like crap. Well, when my

great-grandparents came to the USA, they were endentured slaves for a decade before they could gain their freedom and be considered Americans. So, colored people don't have the market on "poor me, there were slaves in my family in the past". No matter how it happens, it's NOT right. I think it will get worse before it gets better, with a racist HALF black President in office. I think a lot of things will happen that people will turn the other way.

Don't be surprised if you get called a bigot. I answered a question about people of all races. I stated my opinion that people of all colors are good and bad and even I got called a bigot.

I'm "technically" Indian, my great grandparents were all Indian but since my skin color isn't real tan I'm labeled as white. I don't care though. I'm proud to be whatever people want want to call me, other people opinions don't matter to me. I have naturally curly hair that I straighten everyday, one of my friends that is puerto rican, told me last night that I don't have typical white girl hair and that one of my great grandparents must have slept with a slave. I just looked at her like she was stupid, last I checked people of every color were entitled to have curly hair. She has some big issues with white people because she says her family was mistreated by the kkk. Hell I have friends of every color. I've never been in the kkk, last I checked there weren't to many indians in the kkk, none of my grandparents were in it , and I sure have never had a slave. But I don't think issues like this will ever end.

It will take a hundred years or more for the whites to be caught up

on discrimination against them as other races have been

discriminated upon for several tens of years. As long as America

exists, all races will be talked about so as long as you live in America

race problems will continue to exist, so one thing one can do is leave

and live where there is more harmony amongst people, I did. I am

Romanian, American, Indian, and have family of a culture of many other

races, so being out of the United States I do not have to deal with the

race mess. And to think that I served 22yrs of my life in the military

defending the freedoms of Americans, and for what.

Bigotry and racism is a symptom of ignorance, regardless of who the perpetrator is. Those who condone this behavior are just as simple minded.

No intelligent person approves of actual discrimination and hatred based solely on "race", religious beliefs or gender.

Stereotyping an entire population based on the behavior of a subset of that group should never be promoted

We are all guilty of it, to a degree.

It all starts with the way history is taught, if they we're brought up believing that other races are inferior than or that they were wronged even if it wasn't their generation it happened to. All races are racist. I think black people feel as if they're allowed to be more racist because of white peoples racist history. I think it's the media that portrays whits as they do today and i have to say big shift from what it was in the 90's...
