How do I get my cichlids to eat dried blood worms?

Hey, I have two rainbow cichlids and had them since january. I've been feeding them flake food the whole time and I just got home from petsmart with dried blood worms. I put a couple in to see if they would eat it and one of them had about 2. I need to know how do I get them to regularly eat the blood worms when i feed them? Also how many times a week should i give them a pinch when they are fully accustomed to eating them? thanks

    H. multispinosa is primarily believe it or not a vegetarian cichlid. It feed mainly on filamountous algae along with larval insects in the water. Freeze dried blood worms contain an extremely high amount of protein, so I would not feed too much freeze dried foods. If you want to feed it a variety, I would look at spirulina flake, new life spectrum cichlid pellets, Extreme cichlids pellets as well as some frozen inluding frozen blood worms and frozen mysid shrimp.

Frozen foods contain a much higher water content compared to the freeze dried counterparts so they will not expand in the digestive tract of fishes. The frozen also are far more nutritious.

feed a little in the morning and add a few worms to the evening meal. but fee very small amounts until they are almost jumping out of the tank. then drop the worm in first and they will eat anything that drops into the tank. by the way, if you can stomach feeding those you should buy the frozen ones. they much more nutritious for the fish that will suffocate within 9 months unless you get a 300 gallon aquarium.

I improve Kenyi and different cichlids. Blood worms are no longer their organic eating habitual. you ought to feed them nutrients geared to cichlids. they do no longer consume algae generally. even although they are going to now and back nibble on a algae pill. it fairly is not any longer their established nutrients the two.
