hey, I just bought some new plants and some seachem flourish. I'm going the low tech route so I need to know if I have to take out my filter media. I have an eclipse 12 system and I didn't get rid of/modify anything. I heard that the carbon in the filter needs to be taken out so the fertilizer will actually work, but I just need to know if its a necessity. I'd rather not have the flourish go to waste. Thanks in advance.

Okay I'm stuck on two options for what kinds of fish i'm going to put into my 12 gallon, heavily planted tank.

Option One: Four regular Tiger Barbs, two Albino/Green Tiger Barbs(what ever is available), and three Peppered Cories.

Option Two: Three Regular Tiger Barbs, six Neon/Cardinal Tetras, three Peppered Cories.

What do you prefer or what would you change? Water changes are always weekly at about 30%. The tank is also very mature so cycling isn't going to play a role.

Hey, I have a 12 gallon planted tank and it is very established. I plan on getting 4 tiger barbs, 6 neons/cardinals or rasboras, and 3 cory's. I know its a lot of fish, but bacteria will be able to handle the bio load since i have a pair of cichlids in my tank right now. i know its a bad, i was very ignorant and didn't care at the time. What I need to know is what fish I should add first to last. and if you have another suggestion please tell me. getting rid of the tiger barbs isn't an option...i love those fish lol. thanks in advance

I need cheap soil that I can use for an aquarium that has lots of nutrients in it without the little white pebbles. I can't buy online because I can't use my parents credit card. what kind of soil that you could get at home depot or something would you recommend?

Hello, I'm getting ADA Amazonia Soil II or Fluorite in a couple days, depending on what Petsmart has in stock. I currently have a 12 gallon eclipse tank with two Rainbow Cichlids. Yes I know that they need a bigger tank and they will be getting one over the summer. What I need to know is how should I prepare the substrate to be put in the tank and if I leave majority of my tank water in, will all the substrate sink to the bottom or should I just take out all of the water and keep my fish in a seperate bucket? I'm going be honest, I don't know what I'm doing when it comes to the substrate stuff because I want to use live plants, so any tips on adding the substrate and everything will be appreciated. Hey, all my life I've always thought about joining the army, being a part of something everyone will remember, walking around knowing everyone respects you. I do in fact realize that it's not a walk in the park. If you are willing to do so, tell me some stories about your experiences. good, bad, it doesnt matter. i know about bootcamp and how difficult it can be, but i know i'd do fine since im doing my best to stay as physically fit as possible. also, my parents are completely against the idea so convincing them will be near impossible.

Okay this is very corny so here i go. I met this girl a couple months ago and we went to prom yesterday and a concert the day before. i've been nervous cause i want to make a good impression and i also like her. at prom she danced with me a couple times but danced with her best friend majority of the time. i also decided to dance with other girls but lately all i have been thinking about is her and its all i want to do. Now im not sure if i like her still because of prom and i still do because we have a lot in common. the problem is if i tell her, i completely risk ruining our friendship and if i tell her and she likes me back, i like longer, serious relationships and she's going away to college in a couple months. I just don't know if its worth telling her and i've been sick to my stomach the past two days just from thinking about her(good and bad). im 16 so i have no clue if semi long distance relationships are worth trying if i were to get to that point in time with her and im most likely not in love but just crazy for this girl. what do you guys suggest i do?

I'm planning on changing my substrate soon and I want to know how many bags should I get. I know they come in 9L bags and either 3 or 6L bags. can't remember which. I don't know how much I would need to get at least 3 inches of substrate.

Hey, I have two rainbow cichlids and had them since january. I've been feeding them flake food the whole time and I just got home from petsmart with dried blood worms. I put a couple in to see if they would eat it and one of them had about 2. I need to know how do I get them to regularly eat the blood worms when i feed them? Also how many times a week should i give them a pinch when they are fully accustomed to eating them? thanks

I need a type of cichlid that isn't too agressive, hardy, smaller type of cichlid, and has similar water parameters with a rainbow cichlid thats about 2-3 inches long. I only want one because of the limited tank size

I need help. I want to get a pair of german blue rams for my 12 gallon tank. i read that they need at least 20, but over the summer when i have a job, i'll by a 30 gallon tank or something. basically i need to know preferable water parameters, what they like to eat, behavior, etc. Personal experience is highly appreciated when giving tips because every website has something different.

The other day i realized that when ever i have a decently sized meal, my face starts to tingle like its going numb along with random parts of my upper body. It feels like im going to faint on occasion. I have low blood sugar according to my mom so im not sure if it has anything to do with it. I don't have diabetes, im just prone to fainting.

Hey. I am planning on starting a low-tech freshwater planted aquarium. What I need to know is what kind of substrate I should get(fluorite, eco complete, peat moss, etc.) and how should I layer the substrate. I have peat moss so does peat moss on the bottom, fluorite, and then some sort of gravel/sand sound good. I need tips. thanks

Hello, I have a 12 gallon tank and I'm planning on going into the woods by my house or to a pond by my high school to get some driftwood. I do know the procedures to clean the driftwood and I do realize it will change my water color. What I need to know is what type of wood I should be looking for, like oak or something. I live on long island so anyone familiar to the woods everyone parties in, please help. Should I get some next time I'm at the beach?
