What kind of soil do you recommend for my aquarium?
I need cheap soil that I can use for an aquarium that has lots of nutrients in it without the little white pebbles. I can't buy online because I can't use my parents credit card. what kind of soil that you could get at home depot or something would you recommend?

I know what you can use its called Schultz Aquatic Plant Soil. I think they sell it at Ace Hardware. Its not specifically made for aquariums but it is made for aquatic plants. People do in fact use this in planted aquariums and it works. The only problem with this substrate is that it is light and can be stirred up easily.
Here is a picture of it....

Just do a search for it in Google and so you can read a little more about using it in an aquarium before you buy it.
This is assuming you want to use soil for a planted tank, you never actually said. I assume that's why you asked about soil but if its not a planted tank just use aquarium gravel.

For a planted aquarium you would not use regular soil. The best choice would be to layer a coarser pool filter sand, followed by laterite (a clay like rock used to give plants backup nutrients), and finished with a less coarse layer of pool filter sand (about 1/8inch grains). Overall aim for a total depth of about 3 inches.

I'm sorry, but I would not recommend using soil meant for anything other than aquarium use.
Though it is more expensive, and is usually only found in pet stores that deal solely in fish, I think my Azoo aquarium soil is the bees knees.

Are you going for a planted tank? If so you will need to worry about more than substrate, do not however use and sort of standard soil. You can use several different types of sand, including playground sand, but you have to wash it first, You can also find prewashed sand at a lot of big box hardware stores. Shoot me an e mail if you want to know more.
