You saw right. That is what he said he also said a lot of other things that turned out to be lies.

Actually, he was born in the bottle city of Kandor that Superman keeps at the Fortress of Solitude (Read old Superman comics for more info).
He was beamed into the Phantom Zone and managed to escape through a temporary rift that opened up.

You are most likely thinking of Superman. His name in Kryptonian is Kal-El, son of Jor-El. President Obama is not Superman. So no, he was not born on Krypton.

in reality, it has yet to be determined where he was born.
his grandmother claims he was born in kenya and of course he was too young to remember.
