Internet Explorer 8 won't download?

I get the error message:

ie8-setup-full[1].exe is not a valid Win32 application.

I have Windows XP on my system. Any ideas?

Your XP must be upgraded to at least Service Pack 2 (SP2) to install IE 8.

If you got message: not a valid Win32 application your ie8-setup-full[1].exe is corrupted. Try to download from Microsoft website directly and save. Run after saving. It happened if internet connection hash your file. Other advice is IE8 has some fixable bug if you have too much Add-ons (i.e Flash Player). I've found a good advice: How to download any Add-ons to IE8 without the errors

Uinstall it and then reinstall it, if it meets the requirements for xp. which it probably does. why don't ya try Safari 4 if you like speed and reliability. The only glitch I came accross was sometimes in mail.live.com

  • Try rebooting your system before you try downloading it again. It works for me.
