Pressure washed a Honda cb900c now runs rough?

My brother gave me a motorcycle that he said ran perfect. Before he gave it to me he thought he would clean it up and pressure washed it.

The two outside cylinders have a cooler exhaust.

I have checked and replaced spark plugs and wires.

What should I be checking for?

I have drained carb bowls and did not observe any water in the fuel.

Thanks in advance for your response.

I purchased a Honda CB900 Custom a few years ago and was warned of this exact symptom. A very common occurrence on this motorcycle is the housings on the ignition coils cracking. When the coils get cracked (due to 29 years of heat on the material) water can enter the coils and keep your Honda 10 speed from running. Many owners have replaced their troublesome coils with Accel coils.

You may also want to check the clear tube on the right side of your motorcycle just in front of the rear tire. This tube will have a black cap on it. The tube may be browned from years of oil gathering in it, but it will be there. Drain whatever is in the tube into a bottle and look at it. Mine had had water after riding in the rain. I let it get full of oil once and ended up plugging my air filter, as the oil that was being pulled into the air filter box had no place to go. The bike quit running right away, I now drain that thing every couple of weeks.

Did he put a rubber glove over the exit of the exhaust before pressure washing it? Having water in the exhaust could cause the engine not to breathe correctly.

Pressur washers can chip wood so they could have easily lossenned a fuel tube or something going to your engine. Check over everything you pressure washed.

Also check the carb boots for air leaks.
