The D90 is available now, whereas the new Canon equivalent won't be available for at least another 4 or 5 months!
Whatever Canon releases from now on will have 1080p movie mode and the D90 does up to 720p. If 1080 is important, you can wait for the Canon (perhaps called the "60D" or "7D", but not for sure yet), or get a Rebel T1i, which is 15 MP and includes a 1080p HD movie mode.
The new Canon is just "rumored" at this point, so I would opt for the Nikon D90 if you are anxious to start shooting.

It doesnt really matter, it should come down to which camera you like the feel of more. They are virtually the same, but here is what the Canon offers that the D90 does not. Up to 12800 ISO (I havent seen any tests yet so who knows what its like) and both 720 and 1080 video modes, although the 1080 is a fairly slow frame rate. Its much more a question of which brand you like better. And that can only be discovered by trying them both.

I upgraded to the D90 from the D40 a number of months back and that i've got been greater beneficial than satisfied with the improve. i will additionally say that I had the kit lenses with the D40 and on an identical time as they are sturdy, I even have those days began capturing primes and that i prefer i could have began with those first. i could often get pissed off that I wasn't nailing concentration whilst it may desire to nicely have been the barriers of the lens. The primes are great sharp and on an identical time as you may not zoom, you may pass(zoom) including your ft and that i think of that I actually are transforming into greater exciting compositions this form fairly of status nevertheless and attempting to permit the lens do each and all of the artwork. i won't be in a position to remark on the Canon's as I in basic terms communicate Nikon(lol) yet i think of i could sidestep type new cameras until adequate people have offered them to permit others understand of the conventional....enable them to be the guinea pigs, ya understand? only my own opinion nonetheless. you additionally can verify into getting a used D90. i offered my physique in basic terms on ebay for $750 on the top of final year as I already have lenses that i like to apply. only ensure you may verify the business enterprise and verify comments.

Even Though Nikon D90 is a Goood cam, but s till Canon beats them all when it comes to performance, so i would advice you to wait for Canon to launch new one.
