What is "The Host" by Stephanie Meyer about?

"The Host" is not new at all. Meyer released that book a long time ago.

Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away.

Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact and continue their lives apparently unchanged. Most of humanity has succumbed.

When Melanie, one of the few remaining "wild" humans is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.

Wanderer probes Melanie's thoughts, hoping to discover the whereabouts of the remaining human resistance. Instead, Melanie fills Wanderer's mind with visions of the man Melanie loves—Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she has been tasked with exposing. When outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off on a dangerous and uncertain search for the man they both love.

The Host is basically Sci-fi. It deals with Aliens (called wanderer) who use humans as "host" as they start invading the planet. The story revolves around two character: the alien wanda (Short for wanderer) and her host that is fighting back to regain control.

Its a love story.

And its writing style is sooo much better than twilight which I will never read it again. Wanda is a better character than Bella. Though I hate the ending as everybody gets a happy ending - though a part of it got me to like it.

Read it and renew your view of stephen meyer. Better would be her style in the Host

i read it...it sci-fi it's about hat happens to the world after souls took over. the souls are the parasites (the guests i guess) and the human bodies are the hosts-they hold the souls. most of the humans have been taken over by souls. and once a soul enters your body it takes over your mind. so i guess the hosts are the puppet masters...and the humans would be the puppet...does that make sense? Melanie stryder is a human who is taken over by a host named wanderer. so of course wanderer will be controlling everything mealanie does now...right? wrong! Melanie is still partially in control of her own mind. She still has thoughts that wanderer can hear but she can't control her own body. SO melanie shows wanderer her memories and wanda (short for wanderer) finds out that mealanie's lover Jared and her little bro Jamie are possibly still out there. in hiding. w/o hosts. which means they control their own minds. so now melanie and wanda are on a search to find jared and jamie. but there's a problem. if wanda, the host, finds jared and jamie...who don't have hosts yet...which is a good thing for humans and a bad thing for hosts, then she could take them back to the seekers who are the ones who find stray humans and give them souls. ANd if she takes them to the seekers they'll no longer be in control of their own minds...will she betray melanie jared and jamie? or choose to save them from the other parasites?
