what is your opinion on chewing gum in school?

because chewing gum helps both sides of the brain function. also it keeps kids for playing because they be play in there mouth not hands so you could do your work and play. research also states that chewing gum increase thought process so again it helps you work faster. Chewing gum can also help you read 80% faster. I would love to chew gum during a test i did it once and guess what it really helped i got a 100 so i think i have given enough reason to allow gum chewing. By the way good question

o i did an awesome persuasion paper on this topic last year....unfortunately i have it saved on my old computer or i would post it...i remember a few of my points were that it keeps kids awake, can improve focus by stimulating the brain, and memory association for example if a student chews say blue 5 gum while studying for a history exam and then chews that same kind of gum while taking the test they will do better from the brain associating the history material with the taste of the gum...sounds weird but i found studies on it for my paper lol GL with ur paper! i had fun with tha topic

mint has been proven to help think. So that could be a reason. Also it helps the boring classes go by a little faster. If a child is chewing gum then their not talking, Which could help the children around them concentrate..

Well it can help people think better and concentrate. But student tend to discard their gum under tables and floors etc. They don't use bins!!! But i always get away with chewing gum without doing that. I never seem to get caught.

at my school it is allowed. I'm in the seventh gradee. last year, one of the parents asked about it and the principal or whoever it was said that a study was done and it helps some kids think while chewing it.

Also, in my opinion, elimnate the bad breath!!

I don't think it should be allowed, I work in a middle school and I can't wear nice shoes because I am always stepping in gum and getting it all over my shoes. Stupid kids.

I believe that it is a disgusting habit that should not be allowed in school.
