Is it possible to use Word 2003 with Vista? Don't like Word 2007.?

Really don't like Word 2007 - if I buy Word 2003, I'll be able to use it on XP but will my sister be able to use the other activation on Vista?

Advice appreciated.

Yes it is possible. Windows Vista supports Word 2003. I tested it and to calm you it works just fine.

Yes, it works perfectly well. I've been using MS Office 2000 Professional until recently and that always worked fine.

I have now changed to Office 2007 and I will admit, it's quite different. However I am getting used to it now and finding it far better than its predecessors as it is more flexible in what it can do.

I don't think that 2003 and 2007 will work very well if both are installed, but they might do if you have at least 2GB of RAM installed.

Office 2007 is quite 'memory hungry'

    absolutely.

i used to use it on my vista computer cause i didnt wanna learn how to do word 2007 :P

    it works just fine

but let your sister know that whenever she double-clicks a file, it will automatically open in word 2007 (unless she uninstalls it--vista computers come with office 2007) so if she wants to open it in 2003, she will have to open word 2003 and go to file>open>find the file.

    :) good luck

and 2007 does take a lot of getting used to.

oh and if you ever have a 2007 file make sure you save it as .doc (197-2003) rather than .docx (2007) because .docx won't open in 2003. that's for all programs. excel, powerpoint, etc.

i personally like powerpoint 2007 so yeah :)

I don't see why not, as long as Word 2003 is compatible with Windows Vista, and the other activation isn't being used by another person, then it should work. If you can't run Word 2003, you can right click it > Properties > make it run on Compatibility mode.

    Note: Don't Obtain Activations ILLEGALLY.

Yes, provided you have word 2007 on a disk with genuine CD Key.

Uninstall word 2007 from XP first and then install it on Vista.

Yes. I have a Windows Vista Home Premium, and I am able to use 2003 on here. Windows may ask you to update a few things before running it, though.

Of course you can use 2003 version but I would persevere with 2007 - it really is quite the best version brought out so far. You dont like it only because you haven't found out how to use it properly yet but when you do, you will be amazed. Everything is so much more logical and switching between menus is easy using the Alt key and you can add icons to the quick access toolbar to make it quicker to use.
