1 AnswerOlympics1 decade agoLandlord has poured thin latex screed to cover floor - any way to toughen this surface up?
Landlord has poured thin latex screed to cover floor unevenness but refuses to put down a finished surface. The screed is fragile and easily chipped. I only want to put non-fitted carpets down. Is there anything I can paint on top of the screed to make it into a proper tough surface that can be walked on? My DIY skills are limited as is money. I can paint but not pour concrete or anything. Advice from experts please?
3 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agoAm thinking of moving flat to Victoria Park, Hackney. What do you think of this area?
Is it a nice place to live? I need to move from west london back to east london for family reasons. I like arty areas with lots going on - markets, antiques, art classes, performance, theatre, caffs etc. Victoria Park looks like it provides these (tho' not close to any tube stations). Anyone who lives there, what do you think? Would you recommend it?

New wet room / shower room but landlord's builders have left old wall mounted fan heater on the wall. If the spray from the hand held spray nozzle should hit the coiled metal element whilst the heater is on, what would happen? Is it a hazard? Should I ask for it to be removed?
Your advice, please, people who know.
2 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agoIs my computer infected?
This afternoon, a Windows-looking message (though I didn't trust it) came up saying a virus had infected my computer and I needed to press yes or something to cleanse it. I didn't do so but it went on to show me My Computer contents - each item had a warning and exclamation marks saying a trojan was taking over. I could see that the little icon at the bottom which represents TalkTalk Virus protection (which I pay a monthly fee for) had a red cross through it and a note saying it was malfunctioning. Shortly after, all returned to normal. I went into my security control and it said everything was fine. But since then I've noticed the TalkTalk icon had a red cross through it again and the computer was unresponsive as though someone else had control of it (or is that my imagination?).
Advice please? If it IS infected, is there any point my rebooting with the system recovery disk I was given when I bought it?
(It's a Toshiba laptop if that has any relevance?)
5 AnswersSecurity1 decade agochipped old vinyl tiles with asbestos content - health hazard or not?
My floor covered with above. Websites say 'health hazard' and get blokes in space suits to remove them. Surveyor working for my landlord says "You could pulverise those tiles to a fine powder, snort 'em up your nose and you still wouldn't do yourself any damage." Who is more right, do you think?
