If you have A + blood group and the hospital gives you A - blood, does it matter?

Are they interchangeable?:

Update:

Thanks to Lab Guy - very informative, but my question was about A+ blood group being given A- blood.

    A+ can receive A+, A-, O+, or O-

    A- can ONLY receive A- or O-

A person with a + type can get the same letter but also in a - type but a person that has a - type can't get a +. It has to do with the one part of the blood the + or - signifies, if the person's body is not used to that part being in the blood it will attack it. The same can be said for a mother with a - type of blood, when she is pregnant, if the baby is a + type, sometimes things can go wrong, so she is watched carefully.

yep... since positive Rh factor can receive blood from both positive and negative Rh blood, so it should be fine.

I've always thought you need donated blood of your same blood type...

ask a phlebotomist or someone from the hospital.

I wouldn't take blood that's not my blood type...
