PCSing to Fort Campbell?
My husband is finishing up AIT and then we are PCSing to Fort Campbell at the end of June. I have been looking for homes and apartments in the area and can't seem to find any that match the BAH, does anyone know of any places? Also, what needs to be done to get our stuff packed and shipped and how long does it take to get our stuff back? Also, is Fort Campbell a nice base?? I've heard so many different things, i'm so confused. Ha-ha. If anyone has anymore information please feel free to email me, i need all the help i can get, this is my first PCS move. Thanks again.

I'm not sure about the Army moving your stuff up here, my husband and I moved ourselves.
Ft. Campbell (over all) is a nice base. The PX is one of the largest in the world, the commissary is very nice, and they are building new on-post housing.
I tend to forget how spread out Clarksville is, but I grew up in the boonies, lol. There are a lot of surrounding areas you can choose to live at as well, but they are further away from base.
LI stay away from New Providence Blvd, Kraft Street and Lafayette Rd.
Clarksville is in Tornado Alley, and we do get a lot of crazy/bad weather in May-April.
Traffic is extremely bad during "rush" hour, and there always seems to be a wreck on Ft. Campbell Blvd (41A).
The mall here is ok, not great.
There are a lot of things to do in Nashville (1hour away) or Gatlinbrug (4 1/2 hours away)

There is a place that I would never rent from again, b/c they tend to screw over military families..I won't post it on here, but you can email if you want to know more info about Ft. Campbell!
Hope this helps! Good luck!

A great way to find rentals is to go to www.ahrn.com. It is a fairly new website run specifically for PCSing soldiers. You will need to sign up to use it with your hubby's info. Once you do, you will be able to see all rentals that are listed in the area and also narrow it down to ones that fit your BAH. I have done 2 stateside PCSes and used it both times to find a place to live. Hopefully, the rental agencies at Campbell do a good job with keeping it updated.

I was stationed there but it was ten years ago. the on post housing sucked! not sure if they have built new ones yet, but the ones they had were pretty old (and i was an E-6)
You have to call travel to get your stuff moved. and also, depending on your rank, and where you are trying to live, most times BAH won't cover the amount. best thing to do is check online. the base is not that great to me. but then again, I was stationed at Fort Bragg, and it is a much larger base.

Try the link below for rental.
Stay away from Ringgold road, Lafayette road
Sango is the best area, but further from the Post.
Peachers Mill area is iffy, there are gangs in the area.
You can also look in Hopkinsville, KY
