Charles Babbage is referred to as the "Pioneer of the Computer"...while Alan Turing is the "father of modern Computer Science".

define computer....
do you mean electronic?
or do you mean the concept of programmed algorithms to automate a process in which case you have to go back to the weaving mills in England ... 1700's maybe 1800's
or do you mean a computer as in a mechanical devise for 'computing' in arithmetic.......... go to ancient China and the abacus
