Who would the Republicans have to run to beat Obama?

Let's look at his track record, after only a couple of months in office:

Economy is showing signs of life

Both Cuba AND China have issued first-ever "human-righs" declarations

Iran AND North Korea both willing to negotiate regarding their nuclear programs.

Extremely unpopular torture ended at Gitmo.

Exit strategy for extremely unpopular Iraq war.

Ended extremely unpopular stem cell research funding ban

Saved millions of jobs throughout stimulus plans and bailouts.

It seems to me that there is a small minority who REALLY dislike him (for whatever reason), but by in large he IS doing the will of the majority of Americans.

Think about this: the bailout of the auto industry may have lost him a few thousand votes, but all the millions of people who would have lost their jobs will surely vote for him. His actions are causing him to be popular among the majority, but extremely unpopular for a small but vocal minority.

I fail to see what he could possibly do in the next 3 years to NOT get elected again. Heck, if he keeps up his current pace, he might win easier than Reagan did his second time.

Of course, we will get people complaining about his spending, but it IS showing signs of fixing the economy, and like I said, they are a very small but vocal minority. Once the economy picks back up, expect his 65% approval rating to skyrocket.

Checkers (Nixon's famous dog) could run with a reincarnated Reagan and it wouldn't matter. Many will say Romney this election but the religious right conservatives would never vote for a Mormon, as the last election proved. They'll kill any chance he has. If they were smart, which is up for debate, they would seriously consider Paul this election instead of treating him like a nut case. He's the only real conservative in the GOP as far as I'm concerned.

With the damage Bush/Cheney has done to the republican party, you would think the ten percent of the most extreme and vocal 'conservatives' would stop shooting their mouths off so much but their anger towards President Obama overrides their judgment. Other people look and listen to these folks and wonder if they are mentally stable.

Let's face it, President Obama has done more in three months for the betterment of America than I think anyone expected, even me and I voted for him, and you know how much that pisses off the 'conservatives'. They are taking themselves further down the hole that Bush/Cheney started.

I'm quite sure the approval rating you mentioned above is your own because it definitely does not speak for this entire nation . He is for abortions , for taking away guns from the publice , has lied on numerous ocassions which you blind sheep Democrats refuse to acknowledge . He is not improving the job situation , If he was then why would unemployment keep rising to its highest level in 50 - 60 years and is still rising . A bailout is to help and probably would stimulate spending somewhat , but to give them money and they spend it for frivilous things and then turn around and hold their hand out for more and we hand it over to them , what is next , and the next , how long do we keep bailing them out only for ceo's to get rich and the people spend more in tax dollars , but not for all , but for the Banks and car dealers . When was the last time a creditor called you and said , listen I know we are all in a jam, so I am going to help you out by scratching off 1/2 your stupid spending that put you in this hole ? Never that is when , when they call me , it's I want my money and I want it right now or turn you over to collections . I don't care if you have a limited or no income , pay me my money . Since when did banks and auto manufacturers come ahead of the American people

Well, it is relatively common knowledge that the "stimulus" has not affected the economy yet, and that any government programs aimed at doing so have a lagtime.

People complain about his spending because we are borrowing money to do it. Any short-term benefit will be offset by the drag created by the economy when we have to raise tax rates and need more revenue to pay back the additional debt. In other words, like most politicians, he is short-sighted and economically illiterate.

If I were in charge, I'd run the candidate with weakest chance of succeeding, simply because unless something serious happens during October 2012, the incumbent almost always gets re-elected.

    Let;s look at his record

The president of Iran called The Great O an idiot.

The head of China;s treasury said repeatedly that he hated O for what he was doing to the value of the dollar. You do know the play money he is printing at record speeds causes the dollar to be worth less.

The leader of Czech republic is warning him of the destruction he is doing to our nation.

He offened the prime minister of Great Britain with a DVD set.

He sent a stupid button to the head of Germany.

    He has cut pentagon spending.

He put a tax cheat in charge of the IRS.

He has taken control of banks and auto companies and wants to take over insurance companies.

He has allowed Fannie and Freddie bonuses to be awarded without a word of dissent but took after the bankers even though he approved of it ahead of time.

He has made it clear to our enemies that we will not be harsh. We will be kind and gently.

He put a man with no intelligence history in charge of the CIA.

He put the same person who presided over one of the worst school systems in America in charge of education./

He has created more govt jobs.

He signed a bill that spends millions on pig poop research. The same bill has more federal buildings being built even though there are 15 vacant ones.

The recession is ending, but not because of the taxpayers money being spent on the stimulus. Recessions generally last 18 months.

People are getting sick and tired of this spending. For instance, people that make $44,000 a year are eligible for free appliances while families that make $45,000 and above will be paying for it! And their children and grandchildren will be paying for it.

Just want to add... for that great tax cut people are expecting... it's just a reduction in withholding. Some people are going to be in for a very nasty surprise!

I wasn't pleased that Obama won, but I also don't think that any Repub candidate would have had a chance. I think his election was inevitable for the 2008 election...for 2012, it's a toss-up. It's too soon to see if he will be reelected.

After all of those facts listed, it would almost take a reincarnation of Christ to beat Obama. Either that, or Obama would really have to screw up badly for the next 3.75 years.

  • 1 decade ago

    Obama cannot be beaten! Never!

There are only some 40% useful hard working people and the rest are lazy scum like myself. We are the majority and we fully support socilism and Obama/
