Question about Panasonic fz 18 camera?

I'm considering buying a Panasonic lumix fz 18 camera. It's a year and half old, barely used, for $250. Is this a good camera? Is that a good price? I've read mixed reviews about it so now I don't know if it actually is a good one or not.

(I'm a college student who just likes photography- not pursuing it as a career or really wanting to do it more than just for fun.)

thanks!

Update:

thanks for your answers! i ended up buying it for $225 and with a bunch of extras. :-)

Shorty's got the right answer. I love my "Fuzzy 18". It's got some great Scene modes and lots of controls but takes wonderful photos on Auto, too. I especially like the fact that it goes from wide shots to telephoto. But that's a pretty high price for a camera that old. The newer FZ28 has been out for months. The original price for the FZ18 was around $350 (I paid $349). Even if it was owned by an old lady who only took photos on Christmas and Easter, I'd offer $200.

It is a good camera. That is not a good price. You can get a brand new version of the FZ18 (called the FZ28) for only $30 more, here at Adorama: http://www.adorama.com/IPCDMCFZ28BK.html?searchinf...

Both are great cameras that perform easily on par with market leaders.
