  • What do you do if you fine "The Dress" but it's twice the price you planned to spend?

Got engaged Valentines Day, wedding is in August, tried on dresses for the first time yesterday. I found this gorgeous mermaid style lace overlay dress- problem is if ordered today, it may come in end of june, then alterations. Other problem, it's over $1,200 all together. Being poor, almost college grads, we want to spend only around $4,000 on the whole wedding.

Have you had to keep looking after you fell in love with a dress? Do you know of any online wholesale place that might have one that looks similar? would you ever consider buying a dress online?

  • Am I too jealous of her?

First off, I don't want to sound like a whiny teenager without a life (I'm not). With that being said, my boyfriend/ future husband and I are both juniors at the same university (in different majors). The majority of his classmates are female, which is fine with me. He studies with them a lot, and talks about them several times a week. (I do things with them, too, so I do know most of them) This one girl is beautiful, sweet and funny... in fact, if she wasn't a completely different religion and didn't have a boyfriend, I would be worried. Anyway, for Christmas he made her a coffee table for her apartment and she gave him a really nice sweater! I didn't hear that any of the others gave or received gifts. He and I haven't exchanged gifts yet merely because we haven't had the opportunity. This is our first Christmas officially together so I didn't know what to get him, hence her's will be much nicer than mine.

Is it silly of me to be so jealous of her? I know how he feels about me and that he wants to get married after we graduate. but he made her a coffee table?? we didn't spend much money on our birthday presents this past year, so it surprised me when he told me his "project" was for her. I guess I'm just nervous that he won't like my gift. Is this a valid reason for feeling this way?

  • was your length of maternity leave sufficient?

I'm doing a project on the length of maternity leave in America and other countries. The Family and Medical Leave Act gives a person 12 weeks of UNpaid leave for pregnancy and child birth. Other countries give months of paid leave for new parents.

Working parents: how long was your maternity (or even paternity) leave? how long would you have liked it to be? did you put your infant in child care because you had to go back to wokr? was it paid or unpaid? if unpaid, how did the lack of income affect your family?

  • Might this be a stomach (peptic) ulcer?

i'm a petite person who doesn't normally eat a lot. All during June, I was just unable to eat more than a few bites a day- yes, I did try, and no, i'm not anorexic.Either I just wouldn't be hungry or after i'd eat anything, i got these terrible stomach pains. This happened for at least 4 weeks and I lost 5 pounds. I thought it had gone away (i was able to eat semi-"normally" this past week) until yesterday when i ate a bunch and woke up in the middle of the night from the pain. A friend suggested that it might be an ulcer, so I looked it up. I have a few of the symptoms, but not nearly all of them. The pain is like... um.. pre-vomit / a bad stomach ache / cramps, I guess.

  • Question about Panasonic fz 18 camera?

I'm considering buying a Panasonic lumix fz 18 camera. It's a year and half old, barely used, for $250. Is this a good camera? Is that a good price? I've read mixed reviews about it so now I don't know if it actually is a good one or not.

(I'm a college student who just likes photography- not pursuing it as a career or really wanting to do it more than just for fun.)

    thanks!

  • Why do people tend to care so much about celebrities?

I personally cannot stand signing into my email account and having to read about who is going out with someone else's ex or who got arrested for whatever or who is loosing custody of his/her kids!! Why do we need to know all the personal details of these people's lives? Does the media have more important things to cover such as the war or children dying in Africa??

    What are your thoughts?

  • what are some traditions in America that need to be changed?

I am writing an essay on traditions and want to compare the tradition in the short story I am analyzing (The Lottery) to some that we as Americans participate in. What are some traditions that are bad or could be better?

    Thank you for your opinion!
