Is this good so far? Please help!?

Hey everyone, i'm writing a story and the story line has to be really good. This is what i've written so far:

‘What’s in here then?’ Corey comes up beside me and squints into the cage.

‘A python.’

He watches it with me for about five seconds. It looks sad in there, all curled up on itself.

‘It doesn’t do much, does it?’ He taps on the glass. The python doesn’t stir. He taps again.

‘It says don’t bang on the glass,’ I tell him, pointing to the sign.

He narrows his eyes at me, says, ‘You always follow the rules, don’t you?’

It makes me smile, because he’s so wrong. I’m about to turn the whole world upside down. Upside down and inside out.

‘Come on then, let’s get you home or you’ll break your precious little rules!’

I feel my stomach sinking inside me, because of anxiety and guiltiness. I wish I hadn’t taken the step, that I had already taken, because now everything’s going to change and nothing will be the same ever again. I can’t turn back anymore. I sigh. Corey waves his hand in front of my eyes. I suddenly snap out of my little day dream and look at Corey.

‘Is something bothering you? You look a little lost.’ Corey asks me curiously.

‘No, I’m absolutely fine thank you,’ I say a little too quickly. I try to smile, but it comes out wrong. I then look down at the black, glittery marble floor and try to change the subject.

‘Have you done the science project yet? I just needed a little bit of help.’ I look at him, waiting to hear what he says.

‘No…I was going to ask you the same.’ Corey responds with a smile creeping up on his lips.

I try to smile back, but this one probably came out wrong as well. We set out of the zoo, into the cold and frosty day.

Is it good so far?

should i make any changes?

What could the story line be about?

What could happen next??
