Hello all,

I'm currently writing up my CV/Resume for a job at Waterstones. So far, I've managed to write down a brief personal statement and I was wondering if someone could have a look at it and tell me if it's alright? Does it sound OK? Any grammar mistakes etc.

Here it is:

I am a highly motivated, reliable and diligent individual, who strives to work to the best of my ability. I am of a keen mind with a strong work ethic, who is able to work well as a part of a team, as well as an individual. A quick thinker, who enjoys challenges, I am able to adapt to new and unfamiliar situations efficiently and positively. Enthusiastic, energetic and friendly, I am approachable and enjoy listening to and helping others.

Hello everyone

I'm at the end of year 11, and I am doing my GCSE's. I was wondering what are the minimum GCSE grades needed to get into one of the above universities? Also, I am doing 13 GCSE's, 2 of which were taken a year earlier(English Lit. and English Lang.) and 2 of which I had taken as an extra GCSE and is self taught. If I managed to get 4-6A*'s and the rest at mostly A grades and 3 B grades, what would my chances be? I have already gained 1 week of work experience, and I plan to take part in more work experience during college. I would like to study Medicine, and I am taking Chemistry, Biology, Maths and Psychology at A level. If I were to get straight A's in those A levels, what would my chances be?

How was your application process, and what did you get at GCSE?

Hey everyone

I've started my GCSE exams, and so far I feel that I have failed in all of them except for one :( Especially in Chemistry, which I wanted to do at College...I missed out a lot of questions, and it was 33.3% of my final grade. I feel so depressed. I wanted an A grade so badly, and I know I was capable of it, but now I feel so bad.

Hey everyone. I am in year 11 at the moment, and I am doing my GCSE exams. So far I have done 2 of my exams, and I feel that I haven't done well on either of them =( I'm starting to feel demotivated to revise. I really wanted to get all A's and A*'s in my GCSE results, but after 2 of those exams, I feel it's not possibile anymore.

If you've already finished your GCSE's, how did you feel after an exam, and what grade did you get in the end? What are your GCSE grades, and do you have any tips on how to acheive A*'s and A's? Also, how can I revise with full concentration? Any words of encouragement?

Well, I was wondering...if a cold is a virus, then how do people catch it by eating lot's of ice cream. I've been having ice cream all day every for the last week, and now I have a cold...but a cold is a virus, so how did the ice cream trigger it?

Basically, I'm 16 years old and I've applied to the best college in London. My grades are good(mashallah), but I think I didn't do well in the interview yesterday =( I REALLY want to go to that college. What can I do in Islam, that will help me get the place in the college? Today I had a very important interview with a college that I really like. I think I messed it up, because I couldn't answer why I wanted to do my courses, properly. I had so much more to say, but I couldn't think on the spot. However, I did mention good reasons why I wanted to go there and why I liked it. I feel so upset, I think I'm going to be rejected by them...I want to cry. Someone please help me get over this feeling of regret. Thanks.

I have a very important college interview tomorrow, so I have to miss school. So far, I've missed 10 days of school and I feel SO bad =( Is that REALLY bad? The worse thing is I remember only being ill for 5 of those days, but the rest I actually can't remember. My predicted grades are 5A*'s, 5A's and 3B's, if that helps. I feel really really bad, coz it's gonna be 11 days now out of the whole of year 11. Thank you.

I am 15, turning 16 next month. I am 5'1 and weigh 113 lbs. I'm trying to lose another 10 lbs, and then I'll be satisfied. My diet is basically, as follows:

Breakfast: Ricecake with water(26 cals)

Lunch: Sandwich or salad(Under 300 cals)

Dinner: 2 slices of brown bread(182 cals)

Snacks: Ricecakes

I've been doing this for like a week or so, and I've lost 7 lbs or so, but you can't notice anything!

Is it OK to binge once a week? And also, how can I make the results more noticeable?

Hi everyone. I don't know where to start. My parents are the biggest problem of my life. They verbally and emotionally abuse me to the point, where I feel like killing myself. They're not educated at all, so they don't know anything logically. My Dads side of the family have like this hatred for my Mums side of the family, behind their backs, and my Dad gets really jealous when I visit my Mums family, let alone stay over there. I love my Mums family so much, I grew up with them and Dads side is trying to pull us away from them. I stayed at my Mums Mum's house(my Grandma) and my parents kept calling me, asking when I'm coming home and all...they asked so aggressively too. When I came home, they treated me like ****. No, worse than ****. They were saying lots of 'things' about me to each other, but not to my face. The things they were saying were really hurtful, like they disowned me and called me a b***h, they said it was better if i hadn't been born, and lots of other things that are way meaner. They also said that I'm not allowed out anywhere this summer, alothough I did go cinema with my Mums family, only because they came and forcefully convinced my Mum, and Dad wasn't there. Going was a big mistake, as it resulted in a huge arguement, and I can hear them talking about me again.

I do everything around the house. I look after both my brothers, one who is autistic and it's really difficult to handle him. I get the highest grades, and when I tell them, they don't even care. And today, my cousin who failed her exams, came to visit and she showed that she could cook, and Mum started saying 'She can cook, and what can you do? Nothing, at all. Just sit there and eat your face in.' I fill up all their forms, talk on the phone for them. Everything.

I'm really fed up of not being appreciated...What can I do? Please help me get out of this agony. I can't take it anymore. I've thought of suicide alot, but I want to live my life.

Hi everyone

I'm 15 years old, my height is 5'0 and I weigh about 107 lbs(49 KG) and i'm trying to lose a few pounds. This is what i've been eating:

Breakfast: Alpen Light bar

Lunch: Alpen Light bar OR Weight Watchers yogurt

Dinner: Slim-a-soup and one slice of Ryvita cracker bread

Snack: Oaty bar

Excersise: 50-100 sittups a day

The problem is that I keep on binging on weetabix fruit and nut mini's...I always binge on like 2-3 handfuls a day.

Is it ok to binge the way i am now because i eat so little? Also, my weight doesn't seem to be going down :(

Hi everyone

Well in December i went on this diet where I lost 5 kg's in a month. And then I was suppose to start it again on January, but I couldn't. Now i've started it again, and have been on it for a week. I've eaten only 500 calories a day for every day of the week, but today I binged and ate chocolate, so my calorie intake for today is about 1000 calories. I just weighed myself, and found that I went up about 8 lbs?! How is that possible? And has anyone got any other diet plans which helped them lose weight?

I'm 15, 5'0 and 110 pounds =)

I took triple science for my GCSE, and my first exam is coming soon, this January. I'm not sure what revision books to get? and what sites can I go on? I was thinking to get cgp books but i'm not sure if they're helpful. What do you think? what revision books should I buy?

today i done my gcse english mock exam. I think i did bad :(. For all my courseworks i got A* and A+. If i get a grade C or B for this mock exam...how will it effect my final grade? will i stay at A or move down to B?? Please help :( xx

Thanks for clicking onto my question. I'm a 14 year old girl who's in yr 9(8th grade) at the moment, and i've chosen my gcse options. I chose Triple science, history. sociology, spanish and bengali. And all other compulsory subjects are already chosen for us like english, maths and citizenship etc. Are my choices good?

And also...How long does it take to become a doctor in the UK? Is it hard?

Hey everyone! I've done four courseworks so far, and one speaking exam. For my courseworks i got: 2 grade A's and 2 grade A*'s, and for the speaking one i got a grade C. Now i'm doing one more coursework which is original writing. If i get a grade C on that...what will my final grade be? Or if i get a B on that, what will my final grade be?

I just got my ks3 SAT's result for maths back...and i got a level 6b...1 mark away from 6a. I Got a 6b in year 8 as well, but in year 8 i did the 5-7 paper, and in this year i did the 6-8 paper. Do you think i'll be in the top set for maths next year? Any info. will help! Especially those people who got a 6 in year 9 are in top set now...but any info. is useful to me! Thanks everyone! xx

Hey everyone, i'm writing a story and the story line has to be really good. This is what i've written so far:

‘What’s in here then?’ Corey comes up beside me and squints into the cage.

‘A python.’

He watches it with me for about five seconds. It looks sad in there, all curled up on itself.

‘It doesn’t do much, does it?’ He taps on the glass. The python doesn’t stir. He taps again.

‘It says don’t bang on the glass,’ I tell him, pointing to the sign.

He narrows his eyes at me, says, ‘You always follow the rules, don’t you?’

It makes me smile, because he’s so wrong. I’m about to turn the whole world upside down. Upside down and inside out.

‘Come on then, let’s get you home or you’ll break your precious little rules!’

I feel my stomach sinking inside me, because of anxiety and guiltiness. I wish I hadn’t taken the step, that I had already taken, because now everything’s going to change and nothing will be the same ever again. I can’t turn back anymore. I sigh. Corey waves his hand in front of my eyes. I suddenly snap out of my little day dream and look at Corey.

‘Is something bothering you? You look a little lost.’ Corey asks me curiously.

‘No, I’m absolutely fine thank you,’ I say a little too quickly. I try to smile, but it comes out wrong. I then look down at the black, glittery marble floor and try to change the subject.

‘Have you done the science project yet? I just needed a little bit of help.’ I look at him, waiting to hear what he says.

‘No…I was going to ask you the same.’ Corey responds with a smile creeping up on his lips.

I try to smile back, but this one probably came out wrong as well. We set out of the zoo, into the cold and frosty day.
