PLEASE answer....Does each individual seed become a plant?

I planted Salad Bowl lettuce seeds and Evergreen Bunch onions by seed today outside and I put 1 seed every inch or so....will each seed become its own plant?

I planted Iceberg lettuce seeds about three weeks ago and it seems that every seed sprouted because I just sprinkled the seeds i the soil, so now it is hard to tell where one plant from another....I have alot of transplanting to do I guess....I'm new to gardening by seed.

The word is thinning the plants, it will save you all that money by being a little more accurate in dropping the seed in. The baby plants are so tiny they do not lend themselves to being easily or successfully transplanted. The package will tell you how far apart to place seeds. They know what they are talking about, they have years of experience in the seed business. It is worth the trouble for the superb flavor of your fresh veggies and fruits.

It is going to depend on the quality of your seed. Chances are that not every seed will germinate tho - but if the seed is good quality most will.

Yes I would not worry about transplanting this late let them grow awhile and then you will be able to tell which plant is what.

  • I would have put two or three in each hole and can anyone help me with my question http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ApBz7...
