Whats wrong with my 2003 ford ranger?
I have a 3.0 liter v6 2003 ford ranger Auto. basically it tops out at 90, and when im at 90 it sounds like its trying to go faster, but it cant. it really seems like it doesn't have much power, but with a v6 in that little of a truck, it should. i think that it was missing. back when i had my oil changed about a month ago, i was told i needed a tune up. could this be my problem or what. thanks

Why are you doing 90 anyway ? It doesn't have much power because you have a SMALL V6. You want more power get a real truck , not a ford ranger.

The problem is the driver. A Ford Ranger is not designed to do 90Mph. Yes most of them can, but honestly, how safe is it to try to do an emergency stop in a truck at 90. Other than that, you may need a tune up or cat converter could be clogged.

the people above that are saying rangers are sh*tty have no clue what theyre talking about, imo they are the best sompact truck on the market today. they ride great have good power and get decent fuel milage. now about your speed the governor in the vehicle might only be allowing you to go 90mph if so you cant do anything about that. good luck!

You may just be low on gear oil , Find the top plug on the side of your tranny and remove it ,if it does'nt run out when you remove the plug stick your finger into the hold and see if you feel oil , if not you need to add some gear oil , like a 80- 90 w gear oil.

What you are feeling is the governer kicking in, it's job is to limit the max speed you go. Wana go faster??? Get a performance chip & open it up to 115 mph.

first of all, rangers are SH*TTY
second, check the transmission fluid.
third, get a tune up.
fourth, rangers are cursed.
