The main Difference is Experience. Matthew Stafford spent more years as a starting QB than Mark Sanchez. Now in all reality does that mean anything? Probably not. I hate to break the News to everybody but the majority of the players coming out in the NFL Draft will be huge Busts. I mean when was the last time the highest rated QB in the draft actually panned out? Hell, when was the last time a number one pick was actually worth the money that they got?

Perfect examples would be Alex Smith, Vince Young and Matt Leinhart.

The reason Stafford is higher on the many people's boards is because of the arm strength and experience he has over Sanchez. They are both good and will both have productive Nfl careers. I like Stafford because of the throws he had to make at Georgia, if Sanchez was there I don't know if he could have made the throws. :)

Here is what I believe is right. So Stafford has much more arm strength and experience. Sanchez has more precision and accuracy, mechanics, and leadership skills. They both have even athleticism. I would take Sanchez though. Why? Here is why:

    1. Stafford can either play like an All-Pro or a bench NFL Player in games (too inconsistent)

    2. Arm strength is not everything (it is still important though)

    3. Sanchez has harder work ethic and played under a Pro Style system against Pro Style Defense in practice

    For experience:

    1. You can always put a QB behind a veteran ex Garcia, Hasselback, or Brees and have them sit on the sideline for 1-2 years with a clipboard. It will give them the right understanding.

I believe the Lions will pick Stafford, who has more potential, but will not reach it. He may not be a bust, just never a star. Sanchez to me is the stornger player and QB.

Also, he [Sanchez] was coached by Pete Carroll who has work with the NFL and coached Palmer and Cassell

Not anymore. Experts are now picking Mark Sanchez ahead of Stafford. They say Sanchez has better accuracy and has great knowledge of the game. Doesn't have great arm strength can make every throw.

He is more experienced and is better prepared mentally than Sanchez. The big problem that Sanchez has is that he's never had to play in the face of an unrelenting deffense. Teams are afraid that drafting Sanchez will have the same result as drafting that Leinhart kid - a totally wasted draft pick.

While Staffod hasn't really played well under pressue and least he knows what it means to face real competition.

Frankly, I wouldn't draft either of them. Figure a way to get that Bomar kid. What he lacks in ethics (he has no problem with cheating) he makes up for in talent.

Stafford is more experienced and Sanchez is a little overrated from being around USC. Sanchez was on a very good team, but in the draft he will go to a very bad team. So will Stafford, but he's proven his skill level around a less star-studded Georgia team and teams can rely on him more to play good with average players

I have never seen mark sanchez but I have seen matt stafford throw the football, he has a stronger arm and very accurate. He hit a flying disk and broke it. But matt stafford will be selected first to the lions and maybe if the lions get their team fixed they might improve, but I doubt that they will go 16-0 lol

Stafford. WHY? because he can play and he faced tough DEfense before. Mark Sanchez never did. He is in the Pac10. Stafford is in the SEC.

I am a USC fanatic so my answer is already biased, but wha i can tell u is this. People favor Stafford over Sanchez for Arm Strength, its true u cant coach how far u can sling a ball. They also choose Stafford cuz they have more film of him and he started in the SEC since a Freshman which means nothin 2 me obviously. But i would much rather prefer MarK Sanchez at the helm of my offense simply because he doesnt have as much wear and tear, he is a student of the game meaning he studies his play book. He takes Victories and puts them on the team and takes loses and put those on himself. A selfless player 2 me and was smart to come out this year cuz think about it. The less film u have the less mistakes u have on film the more u have, the latter. Jus my opinion. FIGHT ON!!!

Because he has a stronger arm which means he has more potential. He may have the ability to make certain throws because of the arm strength he possesses. I personally believe Sanchez will have the better NFL career but, Stafford will be selected 1st.
