Is Jesus happy when Christians lie about science in his name?
In this question
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=200904...
The following Darwin "quote" was posted in an answer:
""...Why, if species have decended from another species by fine gradations, do we not everywhere see innumberable transitional forms? Why is not all nature in confusion? instead of species being as we se them, well defined?... But, as by this theory innumberable transitional forms must have existed, why do we not find them embedded in countless numbers in the crust of the Earth?... But in the intermediate region, having intermediate conditions of life, why do we not now find closely-linking intermediate varieties? This difficulty for a long time quite confounded me"
These are quotes from different chapters in The Origin of Species, and the use of ellipsis is itself dishonest - but the main problem is that Darwin poses questions, and then answers then. Creationist post the questions alone, implying Darwin had no answers.
For example, the second part is from chapter 6, and is immediately followed by:
It will be more convenient to discuss this question in the chapter on the Imperfection of the Geological Record; and I will here only state that I believe the answer mainly lies in the record being incomparably less perfect than is generally supposed. The crust of the earth is a vast museum; but the natural collections have been imperfectly made, and only at long intervals of time."
Besides leaving out the context, this is misleading in a subtler way when used for the proposition that there are no transitional forms. Darwin is not talking about the existence or nonexistence of transitionals here, but of an "innumerable" series of finely-graded transitionals linking together all extinct and existing forms.
Bear: This is dishonesty, pure and simple. It is not a matter of interpretations.

Actually I take exception to the above poster who said something to the effect of, "they don't lie, they just don't understand."
The problem is, this stuff (and other lies about science, ie, "my momma wasn't no monkey") is oftentimes being promoted by pastors or organizations of considerable power.
I cannot accept that no one has explained evolution to these people. So it is indeed dishonest when they purport to understand while they are presenting lies.
When it comes to pastors and other "religious" "leaders", one has to wonder why these people are lying and what else they might be lying about.
Of course, I'm not saying all religious leaders are like this, hence the quotation marks. But we all know there are numerous "my momma wasn't no monkey" preachers.

It depends and is an interesting insight into Christian minds.
If jesus is real and is as described in the bible then, yes he does. "lies make baby jesus cry" etc.
It is possible that the multitudes of dishonest Christians are equally aware the God does not exist, therefore feel no guilt at telling lies on an almost constant basis. You would think that the real believers should anticipate going to hell for their lies, unless they are planning a deathbed confession.

because those over previous transitions became obsolete. Like for example a group of the same type of bug( large ones, small ones, green ones brown ones)over many generations of reproduction only the best traits are kept and the others disappear. (polio no longer exists but influenza does, panda bears will be extinct soon but ..actually all bears will be extinct soon) but other forms of humanoids are cro magnon man, neanderthal man, homosapien. technically we are classified as homosapien sapien erectus.
basically the genetic traits have been weeded out over time. but at its transitional phase im sure there was much variety.

God hates lies of all kinds, whether they're in His name or not.
I don't know why some Christians try so hard to disprove evolution. It seems funny to me, because Genesis even says that although God created the universe from nothing, He created mankind out of things that already existed. This supports evolution.
In my opinion, science explains HOW God created. If He used evolution, no problem. It doesn't make humans any less special. Christians historically accepted that humans are animals... but we're gifted animals.
Taking Genesis literally is a new invention. None of the earliest Christians believed that Genesis was literal. They always understood it as being allegorical.

Those bloody quote miners...
I can't stand 'em.
The trouble is, it takes five seconds to blurt a quote from Darwin out of context, and a good minute to explain why that is wrong.

Lying comes easy to them because they spend so much time lying to themselves that there is a caring father figure watching over them, tallying their every move. They lie to themselves that their prayers have more effect on their world than their astrological forecast for the day or the words of a fortune teller. They lie to themselves that "other" people like gays or atheists or people of other religions are somehow inferior and will suffer eternal punishment for being different. And they lie to themselves that teaching their children religion rather than science will somehow make the world a better place when we have 2000+ years of evidence to the contrary.
It's all fantasy, but they tell themselves every day that it is real. Lying comes easy with so much practice.
Source(s): . Monica said: "in fact there are extremely complex explanations available from the creationist perspective which compitently disprove evolution." Ok, ignoring the misspelling, I'm really curious. The basics of modern evolutionary theory can be outlined in a few sentences, and backed up by hundreds of texts and thousands of evidence-based research papers. So Monica, Can you outline in a few sentences the mechanisms by which your creationism made the species? How does your creationism explain the trilobite, the seal, the kiwi bird, etc.? Frankly, I'm not really interested in hearing how your creationism disproves evolution. If you had an effective proof against evolution, it would have been presented scientifically and be a matter of debate in universities. It's not. But creationism, to be valid, can't be defined in terms of what it isn't (evolution) but in terms of what it actually is. So, please tell us, without using "goddidit", how does it work? - Anonymous1 decade ago

Its a classic tactic: Take just a part out of a person's entire speech or quote, and post it in a way that apparently supports the kind of view you want it to support.
Very disgusting. Such people should be ashamed of themselves.

They are stupid people [Christian liars] of low intelligence, what do you expect.
Jesus understands these fools and idiots.
Often visiting them in the brothels and drinking establishments.

I guess this is a classic case of the whole "but, we did stuff in your name and all", "Go away, I don't know you people" scenario described in the bible.
