Definetly yes! Our bodies are all different and we all have our own different smells on our own, so combine our own individual scent with a perfume and of course its going to smell different!

Many people decide to purchase a certain perfume because they like the way it smells on someone else. However, after they try the perfume themselves the result is often disappointing because the fragrance smells different than expected.

Something you may have noticed about perfume is that certain scents will smell different on different people. This is because each person has a unique body chemistry that reacts with the substances of the fragrance. Things such as hormones, diet, medications, and stress can all affect how the perfume reacts to your body. The skin itself is a very complex mixture of compounds. These compounds include things such as fat, salt, sugar, proteins, and fibers. As you know, people also have different skin types such as dry and oily skin. All these factors work together to produce a unique scent. The way the scent is released will be different for each person because certain compounds of the fragrance, called notes, will be released more quickly and slowly than others. These differences can be very subtle but are still detectable by our sensitive noses.

In addition, the scent can also vary depending on the environmental conditions in which the fragrance is applied such as high or low humidity. There are also additional "background" odors that linger in the room and remain on your skin when a perfume is applied. If you apply the perfume in a smoke-filled restaurant it will probably smell different than if you put it on at the ballpark or in the backyard by the pool. Believe it or not, but our noses are also able to detect these subtle differences whether we are aware of them or not.

Another thing that can be frustrating for perfume buyers is that the scent of the perfume doesn't seem to last as long as desired. If you have dry skin, you may find this to be the case more so than people who have oily skin which holds the scent longer. To avoid this problem you can apply an unscented body lotion or cream like Cetaphil before using perfume. You can also try petroleum jelly but some people find it to be too oily. Another option is to purchase the matching cream for your fragrance.

I suppose so... I found a "signature scent" for myself when our family was visiting Ireland. Haven't found anything near that scent here in the States.

Another scent that I favor is lilacs. To be able to take a deep inhaling breath of a lilac bush in full bloom is heaven!
