Carbs or calories.....?

If you are watching what you eat which one do you think is more important? Some say watch the breads, rice, etc. Others say watch those calories and still eat carbs.

To me what is working is this:

I eat everything but less. Avoid candies and cookies, I drink just a glass of coke, when I need it, ( I'm bad) and I started a small routine of bike and walking. It's slow but I am not suffering but effective.

all food is made from carbs, protein, and/or fat. Fat has more calories than the other two. If you reduce carb intake and keep the others the same, you are also reducing calorie intake. Pretty much, either way will work, as long as you don't overcompensate for the carb reduction by eating more of the other things. But refined carbs (white anything) will not fill you up for very long, so if they play a big part in your diet, you may wind up getting hungry and eating more. Also, carbs tend to make people tired, so eating too many may make you less likely to exercise.

The one thing all "fad" diets have in common if you look closely is resetriction of calories - the whole no carb fad is based on eating protein which fills you up and keeps blood sugar stable so you don't have the highs and lows of hunger and cravings. However research has shown that it all comes down to calories in - calories burned. The best diet is one that covers the food pyramid and limits your caloric intake to whatever is appropriate for your height, sex, age, etc. Weight Watchers has preached in the past that you do in fact go through a carb withdrawal as you cut back to appropriate servings - since we are so used to super sizes but after 3 days you don't crave them nearly as much, mostly because, if you are following a truly healthy nutrition backed diet, you are getting all of the nutrients you need causing less hunger and cravings. Of course certain medical conditions like diabetes may require more restrictions on certain foods but most people with these conditions should have been or be referred to a nutritionist for proper information.

you need to be eating a well balanced diet..low in carbs. Its a combination of the two really...you can't cut out the carbs and eat as many calories as you want just like you can not have a restricted calorie diet and eat a ton of carbs.

So..it both. Must adult females need to be getting right at about 1200 calories a day...low in carbs, sugar and bad fats.

    Calories...

If you stop eating Carbs, then you will loose weight but the moment you put one back in your mouth the weight will go straight back on....

Controlling your calorie intake is the best way to watch your weight! Also monitoring your saturated fat intake! Sat fat is VERY bad stuff!

Focusing on just one thing is pointless...

It is about OVER ALL intake...

There is no such thing as an "Unhealthy Food" because if you take everything in moderation, then you will be healthy...

Don't eat tons of ANYTHING because that is bad for you...

You will gain weight eating pounds of oranges as you will eating pounds of cheeseburgers.

If you take everything in moderation, you will be find.
