REAL ESTATE INVESTING? Is this a scam? Has anybody ever tried this kind of thing?

Ok. So my wife and I were watchin tv and saw a show about John Becks "foolproof real estate system". We were thinkin about buyin his product, after all, that did look like a lot of info on how to get started for only 40 bucks.

A friend of ours said they bought this product, and "didn't work". When we asked why, she couldn't give a straight answer. So that leads me to believe they didn't try, or didn't put any effort into it.

Has anybody ever tried John Beck's product? If you did, what do u think? Has anybody ever tried any products like this from real estate investors that say they can teach you how? Like Robert Kiyosaki, Russ Whitney, John Beck, ect.?

I know there's people out there who have been to real estate seminars and done the classes and bought the products they offer. If you did, were u succesful? I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU, especially if you've had success from buying these classes and buyin products. Tell me who and what worked (or DIDN'T work) for you!

Ask yourself this simple question: If you found a way to make lots of money and were making a lot of money, would you go on tv and tell the rest of the world about it?

Everyone of those I have seen so far has been a scam and the only people that make money on it were those selling the seminars and materials.

Most of them end up bankrupt and/or in jail for false advertising. The one I remember most was David De Dotto from a long time ago.

They have had news shows on the scams. That last big one was the "No money down" scheme. The investigative news show proved all the people that claimed they made all the money doing the plans were all actors and never had anything to do with the company but produce the commercials. All was fake.

And your friend probably didn't want to talk about it because they charge THOUSANDS for their seminars and materials, not $40. All that $40 gets you is a teaser to rope you in for bigger money.

Source(s): In February 1995 the Federal Trade Commission filed suit against Del Dotto. In 1996 Dave settled for $200,000 charges that he and his companies had made "allegedly deceptive claims" in marketing his books and audio tapes on real estate investment. He now makes wine.

For every person that does succeed in any venture, probably a hundred fail. This person you refer to is making his living off suckers buying his product, believing they are all going to make millions. Do you really believe you will make millions?

He's going to sell you a booklet of information telling you what you have to do for his "foolproof" system. Only "fools" will rush in. Like someone ahead of me said, a few years back people were flipping houses without ever seeing them state to state. It didn't matter, but now it does. Other than maybe a few diehards or lucky people in the right place at the right time, only John Beck will make money.

I don't know about this particular product, but there's simply no such thing as 'foolproof", and you also have to ask yourself why this guy has chosen to make his income selling this stuff, and not keep on investing in real estate?

There are too many factors involved for a system to 'always' work - your location, the timing, etc.

For instance, 'flipping' was 'foolproof' 2 years ago.

There is simply no such thing now, because of the state of the present market. So what worked yesterday, doesn't necessarily work today.

I have no personal experience with John Beck. But here's a review from someone I've found spot-on regarding other real-estate "gurus":

(BTW - there's a lot of good free info on that website if you want to learn about real estate investing.)
