Ho Chi Minh, Vietnamese nationalist. his goal was Vietnamese independence, through any means. when the US ignored his requests for sovereignty he turned to the only other superpower in the world: the soviet union. this sparked the ideological battle in southeast asia that is known as the Vietnam war in the west, American war in the east. while his goal of combining Vietnam into a single nation once more was accomplished his ultimate goal of Vietnamese independence was not realized as they were now under the influence of the USSR, and the PRC. he fought from french occupation to American evacuation.

US refused to help him because of French and British imperialist holdings were at stake, and for some reason we did not want to upset them, so instead we let them oppress the Vietnamese until they turned to communism and gave us hell for 10 years.

Try Ronald Reagan if you don't have him, or Gorbachev. But I'm not doing your homework, so google it.
