I'd go with any of the following:

    Corydoras Catfish

    Otocinclus Catfish

    Pictus Catfish

    Bristlenose catfish

Bristlenose Pleco (May need larger tank)

Siamese Algae Eater (SAE) (May need a larger tank)

Don't go with a Chinese Algae Eater (CAE) or Plecostomus, as they both get huge and are commonly sold as cleaning fish to beginners as an algae problem fixer.

The Pleco- Suckermouth Catfish is the most common algae eater which I have myself in a 10 gallon. This website I'll post below gives a picture of one. BritleNose Pleco, Neritina sp. zebra snail, Ramshorn snails (especially if u have live plants), Melanoides tuberculata (the type of snail that LASTS as well and no worries on them surviving which I got from a pet store for free since there was so many at that time), Otocinclus, or Siemese Algae Eaters. Except for the Plecos, you can buy multiple.

A gold gourami can get big. It needs around a 50 gallon.

My suitemate has an aquarium and he has an algae eater, I would highly recommend one! They help keep the tank clean and usually make pretty good community fish. He also has two tiger barbs, I would recommend buying a few of these. They are a lot of fun to watch, they chase each other around the tank.

Maybe some corydoras catfish? They are lovely schooling fish with great personality and they are bottom feeders.

I suggest maybe 6 of the C. Hasbrosus. They stay relatively small and have funny personalities.

    Enjoy your aquarium.

pictus cat? I have one and I love it! It cleans up all the food that fall to the bottom and is very energetic. If you can't get a pictus maybe try 2 cory's.
