wanting to step up trailer height a little with different tires?
4.8 x 8 tires on now will a 5.70 x 8 get me a little additional height without much width change? and will the 5.70 fit the original rim fine. thanks

You will like the change if you can get it in. I made the same change on mine and have not been sorry in the least, the 5.70 is wider, and holds more weight than the 4.8, it will fit the same rim, and is a stronger tire. Don't see a rational reason for it, but my bearings have been holding up better with the tire change.
If it will work for you, you will like the change, I did.

A bigger circumference tyre will add to suspension compliance, so less wear and tear on the bearings and suchlike.
A high profile LT tyre is brilliant, like an 80 or 90 series - and better for a trailer any way.
Issues are clearance with mud guards and the trailer frame itself.
Spring hangers can be extended, depending on the type, but it all depends on your precise situation so the above is fairly generic advice.
Good luck.
