What crafts involve the use of a syringe?
This is a serious question.
I started a new job.
I was just now cleaning out the craft supplies and found a syringe/needle in them. What crafts could this have been used for?
I'm wondering if I should report this to work or if it really isn't as weird as I think it is.
Thanx.
Maybe it's a diabetic syringe?
I work with disabled and mentally challenged adults. As well as other adults. Not sure how "safe" syringe crafts would be. The only reason I find it a bit odd. But I do know the woman who worked before me and I don't suspect anything weird. I just find it an odd craft supply.
Oh and the needle is on it.
AND does anyone know how to properly dispose of it??

Hi red power - I suspect, given how we just recently had Easter, it could have been used to "blow" or in this case, suck out eggs, leaving an empty egg shell that could be used in crafts. The old fashion way is to poke a small hole in both ends of an eggshell and then blow out the insides leaving an empty shell that can be colored and painted and never get "rotten." :) A syringe would work a lot better.
The "proper" way to dispose of any injectable is in a "Sharps" container. One of those plastic containers with a red lid. I would think there would be one if you have a nurse or first aid station? Since you work with the disabled there should be one available.

I have used it to apply glue to places were I can not reach. It is a weird thing to have in crafts. You should really put it in a bio hazard bin if there is one around.. if not I would put rubber gloves on since you do not know what it was used for. I also would bend and break the tip off so no one else could use it.. Wrap it in plastic bag or maybe put it in a empty paper towel tub and then in the plastic bag and throw away

Aside from the obvious, I know syringes are used in cooking, so to inject certain spices or marinades inside foods. Might also be used to decorate cakes or inject glue in really tight spaces where a whole glob won't do. If you only found one in the whole inventory, I'd say someone was back there gettin' their creative on. Don't touch it and definitely tell the manager.

Could be used in model building (to apply a small, controlled amount of glue to a hard to reach area), and leather working (to apply glue under a section of lining that is pulling away/coming unglued).
Yes, it could be a diabetic syringe.
Some cities have a collection program.

I have used syringes to inject nail polish remover in joints of furniture, to inject dyes into wool felt, to inject food coloring into stuff, to inject flavorings into chocolate covered cherry candy.
There are lots of reasons to use syringes in crafts and cooking.

I use a syringe but without the needle part.
It is often used in photography for the chemicals. I use it for liquid watercolor paint mixing.
