My employer, got one of my former co-workers to lie!?

I got fired and the only two people that were present was me and my boss. I got fired due to not doing something illegal.

Soooo.... I filed for unemployement, and waited six weeks to hear something. They had an investigator call the both of us, I told the truth and my boss put the former co-worker on the phone to lie for him!

Believe me I have seen him lie a billion times! Now, I do not qualify for unemployment!

Update:

The question is : what should I do?

They have ruled that I quit my job, and I did not quit I was fired!

That's so rotten! If you want to get nasty back, you could probably call a Legal Aid or some free law service to ask who you should contact for help. Maybe workforce services, BBB...

Or you could chalk it up as one of those bitter lessons that we all receive at some point. If its the type of business that has customer reviews online somewhere, I'd give my own review on any forum that would let me post.

Good luck and good riddance to that employer!

Appeal it. Does the employer have anything in writing tht states you quit? You must argue that you were fired. You can tell them what they wanted you to do that you wouldn't. You an state that there was no one else there except you and employer. You an argue it yourself or get an attorney - be sure to arrange how much attorney gets paid and not from every award but only from the back pay.

Employer may be stupid here sine you know they wanted you to do something illegal. Your attorney could depose the owner and the other guy and ask questions that one of them might answer wrong and show there was a lie.

Good luck to you. If you don't appeal it,they win and that is not right. So appeal, even if you argue yourself. but I'd call an attorney and at least see if you can get a free consult and find out what attorney would charge you. If it is contingency and doesn't go to future amounts but only to lost amount that is past, then something is better than nothing. Go for it.

There may be a time deadline so move NOW.
