How do you store your epipen?
My 18 month old was just diagnosed with a peanut allergy, so I am new to all this. In the pamphlet with the epipen, it states that it must be stored at 77 degrees....our house is rarely ever 77 degrees. During the winter it is about 65 degrees and during the summer it is about 75. How do your store yours?

Welcome to the world of peanut allergies and worried parents! :) That should be fine. My son was diagnosed with one when he was 1 - he is three now. The important thing is to NEVER leave it in the car and to always have it with you. Of course you are going to have it with you when you go to amusement parks, etc and it wont' be 77 degrees. I carry ours in an insulated pack to protect it when we are out at Sea World or the Beach.
When he gets older, I'm sure he will just put it in his pocket - he wont want to carry an insulated pack.
Oh, I have created a peanut allergy "hero" for these kids. I wanted them to not feel like outsiders and there wasn't much out there. I have a website with a poem and animated story of how a boy learns to deal with his allergy. www.judethedude.com. It also has some tips for you in it and there is a link on there for peanut safe candy (I spent hours researching this!) I'm self publishing it once I re-illustrate some pages. I'm not making money except to cover my costs so don't think this is a money making venture for me. I am just a worried mom and dont want our kids to grow up as "outsiders".
Let me know if you ever want to chat about the peanut allergy. I have spent a lot of time on it! :) bmarie@bmbstaffing.com

I would not worry about the EpiPen in your house. I do not believe my apartment is near 77 degrees, but none of my EpiPens have been affected by that. I also got a pouch for the EpiPen off Ebay at http://cgi.ebay.com/EpiPen-holder-neoprene-holder-... I found that it helps insulate the EpiPen a bit, but at the same time it is easy for me to remember. I can easily strap it on any bag I have and I remember to move it. It is also easily accessible if you ever have to use it - rather than have to dig through a bag to find it. Good luck!

As long as it's not left int he car, you'll be ok. Our house is chilly sometimes, and never at 77 either, I've never had a problem with it. As long as your not throwing it in the freezer, you'll be ok.Good Luck to you...I have nut allergies too.
