I dunno what everyone is on about a volley is a shot at the net. As the two wise people said before me, a volley is when you hit the ball without letting it bounce on your side of your court. You can hit this shot at any place in the court but the best place to hit it is at the net where the ball will be returned to the opponent quickly.

A stroke is when you hit the ball after letting it bounce on your side of the court, preferably near or at the baseline so you can give it some power and direction.

It is a volley when punched at the net without letting it bounce.

If hit from further back in the court without letting it bounce it is described as a drive volley.

A person who can drive volley well has a supreme advantage over his/her opponent.

Volley is a short punch at the net

A stroke is a full swing usually taken at the baseline

Once you hit the ball, it is called a stroke

several strokes that go into winning (or losing) a point constitute a rally.

So a rally could consist of many strokes
