How do I become a hair stylist?

I live in Illinois, if that makes a difference. I was wondering about the cost of schooling, and supplies, and the length of schooling required to cut/dye/style hair.

Take a vocational course at your local community college. It should be relatively inexpensive and you may qualify for grants and student loans.

Go to a public vocational school and save your money on tuition to pay for advanced classes once you are licensed. I started in a private school (they went broke) and ended up at a vo-tech. You can get the same great job and save a lot of $$. Good luck. it is a great skill to have. You can do it full or part time and there are a lot of different things to do not just hair.
