When are these countries going to own up to their own problems?

Yeah, there's a weird dynamic when the "big, helpful country" comes swooping in with lots of aid but then withholds it because the receiving country engages in "human rights violations." You CAN'T legislate good behavior. Doing the right thing, treating others well and respecting all humanity is something that must come from WITHIN, not as behavior leveraged out of necessity for copper piping, basic medical supplies and food. I understand the viewpoint our government has and its inclination to help those less fortunate but sometimes it's better to let the whining, crying children figure it out for themselves.

Corrupt government, that's one reason to why they haven't grown stronger. I'm sure you don't want your tax dollars there, but wouldn't you want other countries to help America if we were in need? If another hurricane occurred, and say hit another city besides New Orleans, say NYC, wouldn't you want foreigners to help us rebuild our great city? How do you know the conditions of foreign countries? Let me guess...you just watch our bias news, whether it be CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, etc. that extremely exaggerates anything that comes to mind. I love how some of us are so ignorant and never think of others, but if we're in need we'd probably chastise others who don't want to help. This is why sometimes I don't think this country deserves to be called a superpower. We're filled w/ selfish idiots who don't give a damn about the world..Wait..are we actually going to try to help when some other country..like China comes to the rescue showing how giving it is..and we want to boost our international image? Ha, it'll be too late by then. Visit a country before you start to say negative things about it. Our own damn government can't treat others like humans, if you've been paying attention to the news, you'd know about Guantanamo Bay prisoners being abused by OUR military. Shows how pro-human rights the U.S. of A is huh?

Oh btw, i'm sure your taxpayer dollars are in more jeopardy in the hands of bank giants and con-artists who just think about themselves than some country looking for help in need. Hell, your money is in more jeopardy being here in America overall than in some 3rd world country.

You'd be suprised at how many countries are in turmoil thanks to the U.S.

Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Afganistan, Cuba, etc...

Check out Somaliland. They declared independance from Somalia (but not recongized) and they're economy and people are doing pretty fine.
