Was in unfair to ask Miss CA about gay marriage?
Just because your from CA doesn't mean you support gay marriage. Is the gay community just mad because they didn't hear what they wanted to? If the gay community wants equal rights, shouldn't they start by giving equal respect to people that think differently.

It was not unfair at all. About half of the questions those contestants are asked are loaded in one way or another. The reason they ask loaded questions is to catch them off guard and unprepared, if they can not think on their feet they have no business winning. If I had been a Judge ALL of the gals would have gotten loaded questions on screen!

I've been involved in some pageants, and I think this was an unfair question. Probably, someone told the judges her stance on it, based on something she had said, and they tried to put her to the test to see if she would really say something like that (the truth), or if she would play their political game.
It's the same thing that happens with many actors and actresses. They don't fit the political mold that Hollywoodians are supposed to have, and they are overlooked for roles and censored in the media because of it. Someone wanted to fry her, so they went for the jugular, knowing she would either have to lie, or that she would tell the truth. Either way, it would make her look foolish.

I don't think it was an unfair question. Some gay people might be mad because they didn't hear what they wanted. And yes, people should treat others with respect.

The 'gay community' hasn't commented.
It's odd that when one person states something, the entire 'gay community' is lumped in with him. Perez Hilton frequently calls people names and says stupid stuff. He doesn't speak for anyone other than himself.
Further, the reason she lost has nothing to do with her opinion on gay marriage. Read/watch her actual statement. She is factually incorrect in her claims that 'this nation allows people to choose to gay marry or opposite marry'. She is also disputing her own claim that 'choice is the great thing about America' when she says at the end of her response that she feels that choice should not be allowed. Obviously, it was a POOR answer...not her opinion, but her actual answer.

I think it was a fair question to ask because it's such a complex issue and a hot topic. It showed how well she could articulate under pressure of such a question.
The whole thing that followed was uncalled for. Really, I couldn't care less what either Perez Hilton or some beauty queen has to say.

I think it was unfair that all the other contestants gave unreal answers for example I believe it was Miss Arizona didn't even answer her question. It was unfair that she was asked such a controversial question where no matter what her answer (assuming she actually answers it truthfully) someone is going to be mad. The winner was asked the question "Should the American taxpayers have to bail out the failing companies?" How easy of a question is that in a room full of taxpayers.

It wasn't unfair to ask that question, it was unfair to deduct so many points due to her honest straight forward answer. Perez Hilton is the ugliest man in the world, Miss USA lost a ton of respect, if it ever really had any, by selecting him as a judge.

Yes. Because the Miss USA pageant is not a place to push your gayness on somebody.
Perez is a bigoted gay rights activist.
The Miss USA pagentry is a celebration of the American female, not a celebration of homosexuality.
If you want to advertise your gayness go have a parade, don't do it on the Miss USA pageant.

Though I support gay marriage I don't believe that it is a subject that has a place in a beauty contest.

I support gay marriage but it was a bad question for her
