Honestly they are loving and i LOVE dogs but this dog would not be on the top of my list....

And they tend to be very territorial... You have to train them when there young ESPECIALLY with children around

I had a Springer Spaniel for years and she (Pockets was an excellent dog. They do have ear issues so one must be willing to clean them regularly to prevent bad odors and ear infections, They are smart allthough they are somewhat stubborn;, until they know you mean business, mine was smart as a whip. Now on the other hand American/English breed of cocker spaniels are not good around children as they can be snappy. The springer would definitely be my choice. Hope I have helped.

omg.... i loved my cocker spaniel. He died a couple of years ago :(

they are adorable!!!! ! They do smell bad after a while... and they get ear infections very easily. If you are taking responsibility for the dog, you might have to clean his/her ears out if it gets an ear infection. They are obedient and cute. My dog was so funny. Sadly, he died of an inflamed heart problem... but he was old, 14 in people years and 98 in dog!!! Well, good luck with your dog!

Yes I bought one in 1999. I named him Jake. he's a very good dog. Cocker spaniels are loyal dogs and good for companionship. If trained early on they are good hunting dogs too !!

If well bred, they are wonderful dogs. They do take a lot of grooming, so think about that. Also, they are people dogs. don't get one if you are gone most of the time. They love to be with their people and can get neurotic if left on their own too much. My boys were great! Gallen and Pepper, black english cockers.

It depends on how you raise them. Raise them poorly with no social or training they won't turn out to be the greatest dogs but if you go the opposite way of that your dog should turn out fine. And most of all before adopting any dog learn information on them like: Exercise, Grooming, Lifestyle ETC.

Cocker Spaniels are very good indoor dogs. I have two and just had puppies. I love them to death. You must keep them very clean they are sensative. They have beautiful hair that you must keep cleaned and brushed. They are very easy to housebreak, and they are healthy eaters, so my opinion is get one.
