84 1/2 scirocco running bad rough. Out of ideas.....?

Wouldn't start. Sprayed starter fluid to troubleshoot the problem - fuel pump. I put a new one on. Ran it for like 30 secs, it ran great. Had always run great. But I saw a puddle of gas. I forgot one of the tiny O rings on the banjo fitting where the fuel line goes to the pump. Took it off, put ring back on, put pump back on, wouldn't start. Took it to mechanics. They "fixed" it - it runs. They said they changed a relay and that I've got problems w/the injectors. Runs horrible now. They refused to say anything more. I put lots of gas treatment/inj. cleaner in it, helped but didn't cure it. That was last fall. Runs even worse now.

it can be alot of things dude.however,it seems mostlikely to be a vacuum issue and those years were notoriuos for that.id suggest getting carb cleaner with the little staw on it and when its running, spray along the hoses and where they connect at the different areas.if you here the engines rpm raise, then there is your leak.good luck to you!

The factors screws would have come loose and want resetting and tightenin back, the leads would ought to get replaced too this might reason comparable effect while quite the mechanic ought to have executed so,or the timing has long gone out through no longer tightenin the distributor bolts back up.
