(My state didn't repeal estate tax for 2010.) The answer's probably obvious but I can't find it anywhere. If a decedent has land with FMV of $ 10 in 2010 and they paid $ 2 when they bought it in 1970, is the amount that's includible in their gross estate $ 10 or $ 8? It seems like $ 8 is the obvious answer, otherwise it's a double taxation in a way. I just can't find the answer spelled out anywhere. Many thanks in advance.

So what does he do? passes it behind him, to a trailer totally covered by a Duck. There went the puck. Seconds after the play, even the Sharks radio guys pointed out how it typified some things. When did you know they were in trouble? (both jokes and serious answers encouraged!)

Wouldn't start. Sprayed starter fluid to troubleshoot the problem - fuel pump. I put a new one on. Ran it for like 30 secs, it ran great. Had always run great. But I saw a puddle of gas. I forgot one of the tiny O rings on the banjo fitting where the fuel line goes to the pump. Took it off, put ring back on, put pump back on, wouldn't start. Took it to mechanics. They "fixed" it - it runs. They said they changed a relay and that I've got problems w/the injectors. Runs horrible now. They refused to say anything more. I put lots of gas treatment/inj. cleaner in it, helped but didn't cure it. That was last fall. Runs even worse now.

It's tough to think of any team with good defensemen who are so prone to injury. And it's tough to think of any team whose defensemen (and goalie of course) are more important for that team winning or losing.

I asked it because Bieksa again is hurt after again doing extremely well. And supposedly Salo's coming back but he was hurt - again - before Bieksa went down. I remember a few seasons ago, they had to bring guys up with zero NHL experience and almost no minor league experience b/c so many D were out for them. Boy they have brittle D.

I wouldn't be asking who was the best defenceman to have ever worn a Nordiques sweater. I'm asking who was the defenceman whose performance all in all was the best for them.

What's the Sharks' problem? Just the new logo and that silly shade of orange? Marleau? That Toskala's gone? Just the fact it might/might not be time for a change of some sort & sth needs/doesn't need to happen? Because Mars is aligned with the sun in Sagittarius (so to speak)? What do you think is up? Anything? They sure don't look like last year.

I have a single-shareholder LLC under subchapter S.

In my spare time I get a little bit of work translating legal documents (English-Finnish, English-German). For 2007 it probably looks like $ 6,843.79 of gross receipts. I would declare as "wages" $ 1,640.32, or about 4.2:1 receipts:wages.

My questions:

1) is that a decent ratio of receipts:wages, or could a person potentially be able to get sth better?

2) "compensation of officers": if I am the sole shareholder of the LLC with S corp. tax treatment, could I give myself a small compensation as officer w/o having to figure it in as "wages"? $200? more?

NEW YORK -- The NHL violated antitrust laws and is acting like "an illegal cartel" by monopolizing control of team promotions, Madison Square Garden claimed in a lawsuit Friday.

MSG, which owns the New York Rangers, said it filed the suit in U.S. District Court in Manhattan because the NHL would begin fining the organization $100,000 per day starting Friday if the company did not give the league complete control over the Rangers' Web site and other promotions.

The league is seeking to control the licensing of teams for all commercial purposes and to stop teams from marketing apparel, merchandise and memorabilia, the suit said. MSG asked that a judge order the league to stop limiting team promotions, and it also wants the court to clarify the boundaries of the league's rights.

The company said the NHL had once worked with teams in a legitimate joint venture but had more recently "veered into unlawful behavior."

"By seeking to control the competitive activities of independent businesses in ways that are not necessary to the functioning of that legitimate joint venture, the NHL has become an illegal cartel," the suit said.

Scott Arthur Eggers, a lawyer for the NHL, said he had no comment.

Wenn's abends wird und man die Scheinwerfer einschaltet, (1) das Tachometer, was gut 3.000/Minute vor dem Einschalten anzeigte, faellt blitzschnell sofort auf die Haelfte davon, ohne die geringste Aenderung an die Leistung des Motors - die Geschwindigkeit bleibt dieselbe wie vorm Einschalten, nur das Tachometer faellt in die Tiefe -ABER NOCH DAZU (2) den Anzeiger zeigt sofort ein Verlust an Spritverbrauch, es faellt in die Tiefe, und nach ein paar Minuten ist ein Geruch von Benzin tatsaechlich zu spueren, es wird zuviel Benzin reingebracht. Schaltet man die Scheinwerfer aus, so verschwinden beide. Bei Tageslicht laeuft's einwandfrei. Es geht um einen amerikanischen Modell -ich wohne in den USA - aber eins mit einer normalen Gangschaltung.

Ist hier ein elektrisches Problem oder (leider) eine Panne an eine Computer-Chip? Wobei ich nicht recht weiss, ob computergesteuerte Funktionen beim Scirocco von diesem Baujahr ueberhaupt vorhanden sind.

What freeware can help me, to transfer the voice to the computer, save it, then burn it to CD? That's what I need to apply for it, don't know how to do it. I was at a college hockey game last year and Al MacInnis (superstar hockey player, just retired) was sitting in front of us and me and a buddy were like, "dude it's Al MacInnis". We were in the scouts' section. He wouldn't say hi. Anyway he had these super-cool jeans and a dress shirt on - they looked like, almost, regular jeans, they weren't tight and they didn't scream "designer" but you could tell they were designer because they were sort of like khakis a bit, not Levi's. That's how you could tell, he was a normal guy but he had $$$$$. I was like, "man it'd be cool to have a shirt and jeans like he had, that was way cool because he looked, at first glance, normal and everyday but really cool. I wonder what kind of jeans those were?"

So I was wondering, there's Diesel or Girbaud but does anybody know any brands of jeans that look like designer jeans but aren't tight at all, a bit faded, a bit baggy but not gangsta-baggy, and (nothing against anybody at all) and look "straight"?
