Best stay-at-home defenceman in the last 20 years?

It has to be a "stay-at-home" defenceman. He can't have more than 30 points in a season. To me it's Daneyko. Would say McCrimmon or Leschyshyn but they scored more than 30 in a season. 10 points to the best answer who says it's not Daneyko and has the best reasons why. Has to have less than 30 points any season.

Two guys in that category I always enjoyed were Sylvain Lefebvre and Luke Richardson

I'll tell you why I say Sylvain Lefebvre.. In only two of his NHL seasons was he ever a - in the +/- category. In his second season with Toronto he was a plus 33. his first year in colorado he was a plus 26.

Yes he had size.. and strength. He was one of the most intelligent players I have ever seen. Never did he take a lot of bad penalties. in only two of his seasons did he reach up to ninety minutes in penalties.

Infact his year in Quebec he only notched 17 penalty minutes in 48 games. that's what you call a disciplined player

He could hit and take charge infront of the net.

Being a HUGE Devils fan I'll tell you a name of a guy who had more heart, more passion for the game of hockey than anyone I have ever seen.. THE GUY CRIED when he won the Stanley cup for the Devils. He won a Stanley cup and a Turner Cup (IHL).. Yes I'm talking about the heart and soul of the Devils Crash Line.. Mike Peluso

YOU FIND me a bigger hitter for his size.

Another guy who got absolutely NO credit in his tenure in the NHL. One of the meanest, hardest checkers you will EVER see. and that's Brad Marsh. Of course coming from the Flyers, it's no wonder where he got his temper. Marsh could HIT with the best of them clean out the bodies infront of the net and make life miserable for anyone who dared enter his zone.

Although Dana Murzyn got a TON of penalty minutes

you can't find a more feisty gritty no nonsense player

another guy who didn't get a lot of recognition

    .

    How about Richard Matvichuk

I would advocate Adam Foote for that title, even though he did exceed the 30 point threshold once in his career. But, considering his maximum output was 31 in one season, I think he is worth the exception. With a career +110 rating and 1300 PIMs, he has exhibited reliability and physical consistency throughout his 15 seasons (barring the last two years in Columbustible). My darkhorse vote would go to the geriatric version of Chris Chelios, as he has made a smooth transition from a mobile, offensively-gifted defenseman, to a reliable, stay-at-home minuteman.

Jamie McCoun, Sylvan Lefavre ,Ken Danyko, Stephan Yelle, oh what the hell, can't forget Rory Fitzpatrick lol. He doesn't even get 30 shots let alone points in a season.

I'm hip with the whole tolerance an understanding thing but this gay lingo is just too hard to keep up with.
