Is the Pastor of my Church a Fool?

First off, he CLAIMS to teach the word of God, but his actions say otherwise. For example, he has done the following-

Disrespected my parents for walking out of the service early (They are VERY busy people and I respect them for that.). As they were walking out, he said, "It looks like somebody doesn't want to hear the word of God.". NO, Buddy- They just don't want to hear a wolf in sheep's clothing blab on about how God is protecting him from the urge to buy a new Harley (BTW, I don't have anything against motorcycles.).

He talks about materialistic things (such as purchasing a new motorcycle). I don't think a Pastor should talk about stuff like that. He should be talking about God.

He talks about how much money the Church made. It sickens me when he throws in a percentage. I know where the remainder of the tithing money goes to- Him. That means that when he says, "There's been a 40% increase in tithing since last year.", he really means, "Yeah, Baby!!! Those suckers just made me 40% richer than last year!!! Now, I'm gonna go brag about it!!!".

He throws what I say RIGHT back in my face, without considering that I may have a valid point. In fact, he goes as far as getting members of the congregation to laugh at me.

Once, a homeless guy wandered in and asked the Pastor if he could speak. The Pastor allowed him to, but then abruptly demanded that the man give him back the mic. Sad thing was, he then asked some other staff members to throw him out. Honestly, I would've rather listened to the homeless man. That's because I FELT in my heart that what the man was saying was the Word of God. He didn't waltz in and say, "God isn't real. Be an Atheist.". The homeless man said, "Jesus has died for your Sins. Those who have faith in Him shall have everlasting life.". Something in me KNEW that he was speaking the Truth, but the Pastor didn't let him finish. The Pastor then turned to the Congregation and said, "Satan must have sent that man because I am teaching you the Truth and he doesn't want you to hear it.". I saw the homeless man later on and he looked like he wasn't even CAPABLE of thinking for himself. Seeing that reminded me off the awesome power of God and what He can do to people. I think that was also PROOF that God has an AWESOME sense of humor. Think about it- Instead of bringing in some angelic being of Divine Light, he brought in a smelly homeless guy. I think that was a test of Faith. Everybody would've listened to an Angel. By using a homeless guy, I believe that God had, ultimately, tested everyone's Faith in Him.

So, is my Pastor a Fool or what?

Update:

In fact, when he first spoke at our Church, something in me told me that he was up to no good.

Update 2:

I am aware that I'm faulty. I believe that when the time is right, God will heal me.

Update 3:

I know that it's disrespectful to leave Church early, but if you consider the fact that my parents took time out of their busy schedules to come to the Service with me, you'd see my point.

Update 4:

To be honest, I liked the interim {astor better. He was very wise and treated the congregation with respect. In fact, he had a way of explaining God's Word that had almost NOTHING to do with money or material possessions. For example, he spoke about how he had accidently left the window open and some little bugs were on his wife's pillow. When he picked up the bugs to put them back outside, he was struck by the thought that God was so powerful that he could pick up Satan JUST like he (the Interim Pastor) had picked up the little bugs. It struck me as one of the WISEST things I had ever heard somebody say about God.

It looks like you are judging your Pastor. And you Pastor does seem to be making mistakes.

But every true Minister will make mistakes at times. We are to be merciful & not be judgmental. Knowing that Jesus has forgiven us our sins. And if we critically judge others, we get a log of judgment (blindness) in our eye & can't spiritually discern things.

Jesus also said that when we call our brother or sister (in the will of God) a fool, we are in danger of hell fire. So? Calling our sister or brother (who is in the will of God) has immediate consequences also.

But we are to discern a wolf in sheep's clothing also (liars to deceive & lead away from Jesus). And wolves in sheep's clothing are false Ministers (Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors & Teachers).

But I discern them because they deny the foundational Truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They deny the power of the Cross or deny the Lamb of God without Blemish or the Resurrection or the Eternal Life or deny that Jesus is the Christ the Son of the Living God.

I suggest you and your parents pray for you Pastor. Ask God to reveal the truth. Satan does try to prevent us from worshiping and hearing the word. But it is rude to just get up and leave a service. Nothing is more important than hearing the message of God.

There is nothing wrong with the Pastor letting the congregation know about the finances of the Church. Really, he should. And they have to have business meetings at least once a year here. Some Pastors get a salary. Mine doesn't take one. He says he is doing the Lord's work.

I've heard (and experienced) stories similar to yours when I was Christian and went to church. My father is extremely busy--his job requires him to travel and he was also in the National Guard at one time. One preacher called him an "Easter only Christian" from the pulpit. My dad just brushed it off because he knew the guy was a douche. Then there was the "pastor" who made fun of and belittled me because I have epilepsy, which he claimed was demon possession. He also said the same thing about a deaf girl in the church. Then there was the pastor who bought weed and alcohol for his 13 year old and cheated on his wife every chance he got. When they start doing things like that, they never stay very long.

Your pastor sounds like a real @ss. The congregation will eventually tire of it and begin looking for someone more qualified to fill the position.

    Yes.

Your "pastor" is a man capable of sin, they all are -- but your pastor doesn't seem to know the line, or even the seven deadly sins -- pride being one.

I would be disgusted too. I don't blame you.

I am not trying to convert you at all, but just want to say I am so happy (in reading this) that our priests are on an allowance and NEVER ask for anything in the personal gain realm.

Another reason I am happy to be Catholic: I could NOT even imagine listening to this in a homily, ohps sorry, sermon to you. Our "sermons" (actually homilies) are about the bible readings of the day, not about what the priest wants to gain. Have to laugh though - we have one charasmatic priest in our parish who gets all a-fury if a cell phone rings and says "I KNOW THAT IS NOT GOD CALLING YOU! IS THAT GOD CALLING YOU?" He also makes everyone in the room applaud people who bring their babies/toddlers to Mass even if they make noise -- after all Jesus wants the babies there -- and are they not the next generation of Catholics? It's a great thing.

I don't blame you -- I would have long had it too.

That's why you shouldn't give your loyalty to a Church, only to God. Any church or preacher cannot bring you into the presence of God. That you must do for yourself, it is a matter of self-realization, Find organizations that help you grow spiritually with a goal realizing the Christ within your own being.Jesus said what I have done So can Ye !, and More. Get far away form negative situations like this one if your family won't leave then do it for yourself......

If the board will not listen to the people and ask for a replacement, then I would consider going to another church. My mom and dad had a pastor like that once and it was not pretty. I could go into detail, but it's as sad if not sadder than yours. My parents chose to leave the church and went to another. I commend them for not leaving religion totally. It was bad. It's sad that we have to endure such horrible people who profess to know God and watch them get away with hurting others.

Call no man a fool! Respect your authorities, but find a different church to attend.

I wish you could visit the church I attend (it's an "Assembly of God" church) - Our pastor is amazing. He shows the love of God in practical ways, he's open to new ideas, he's open to new people from all walks of life, and he preaches the Word of God faithfully - even if he has to step on some toes every once in a while.

Find another church. If your pastor threw out a homeless guy, he threw out one of God's children! This so called pastor is not a man of God. Jesus loves everyone! This pastor is not representing what Jesus taught. I have been to many churches where God does not show up. Do not continue to be affiliated with this church. You won't find the Word of God there. The homeless are welcome at our church and if they were not welcome, I would not want to go to that church. A church turns away no one that wants to worship....ever! We are called to love and care for one another. This is my best advice to you and your parents. Peace!

I feel for you. Sounds like the pastor has lost sight. There is no "right" answer for you, I believe. I do know that God does send messengers.

And it those who Feel the love listen.

Your own words,"Something in me knew..." is all that matters.

The difference between knowing and preaching what you think you know.

"Speak your own truth quietly and clearly".

I grew up in a southern Baptist church where you felt the heat.

I don't need that in my life today.

All I need to know is that God loves me and I will tell that to anyone who wants to listen.

I will NOT force him upon you.

May God bless you & the pastor.

Odd, Its a funny thing leaders, We often get what we deserve.

We have become a nation of bumbling blind appeasing idiots worried about offending someone else with our beliefs and we Have Obama as a president.

Whats going on in your congregation. I'd say the fools are the people in the pews. Find a different congregation to attend if your not part of the problem but I defiantly see a in your face attitude in both you and your parents so I'd say you have what you deserve.

As to whether your pastor is a fool or not. If he has been to cemetery school (I call it that on purpose, its where they bury faith and establish doctrine as its headstone) then he knows that Sunday and Christmas and Easter are a lie and he is telling it to you anyway so that he can get a paycheck... In that way yes he and every pastor you will have will be a fool. There is a greater judgment on those who teach.
