At Knox you CAN apply prior to signing in by going to http://www.knoxhills.com/our_residents/Apply_for_a... You just need to click on the little box for Housing Application and then click on the next link at the bottom.

As for filling out the application.... They want info like the Sponsors name, SS# and DOB. They need contact info along with his report date, ETS date, assignment info and any dual military info if it applies if it doesn't just leave it blank. There is a place that asks for DOR which is date of rank if you don't know it right off the top of your head you can get it off his ERB. You will need to list all family members, their SS#'s, their DOB, relationship and sex that live in the home. They also want a list of all pets that will be living in the home.

The waiting list will vary by rank and bedroom allotment so check with the actual housing office on how long you will be waiting for a house to open up.

ETA: They are just REALLY run down and not eaclttly the most well maintained. When we left they where supposed to be clearing them out (moving people to other housing and leaving those that cleared empty) to renovate them but I guess that didn't happen. *sigh* Another area to avoid is South and North Dietz (the ones that look just like Van Voorhis )

I always lived 45 min to an hour away from the base for those same reasons. Housing in town was expensive and the onbase housing wait was too long. The 4 months was just an estimate. As the others have said at least you have a home for now so be gratefull. Going up the COC will do nothing to solve the problem. There are a limted number of 4/5 br places availible and until someone moves out you can't get moved up on the list. So either sit tight and wait or go 45 min to an hour away from the base to where housing prices are more reasonable. As the other person said, we won't evan get into the irresponsibility of having 5 kids on a junior enlisted mans pay.

Contact the housing department there on Ft. Knox. Usually you cannot get on the list or even turn in the application until your service member has in-processed and is physically reporting to hi new unit.

Source(s): Past Experience, we tried to do the same thing and it ended up costing us even more time before we got on the list!

They are really quite self explanatory. I swear! They ask what your arrival date is, how many people, rank, etc. Pretty simple stuff.

Here is a link to their housing, they will help you out if you have problems. Heck you can even apply awhile before you are set to be there.
