Will the US win the "war on drugs"?

I mean, come the eff on already. Will this thing ever end?

Update:

Aren't the negative effects of the "drug war" worse than the drugs themselves?

There is no "War On Drugs". There is the American Trial Lawyers Association War On Taxpayers and the Control Freaks War On Civil Liberties. If there were no War On Drugs, there would be a money making war on something else. Perhaps a War On Dogs would fit the bill. What is the cost of dogs on society? Billions are wasted on dogs. Dogs attack postal workers and meter readers. Children are bit by dogs. Dogs carry diseases. If you could see a child whose body was torn up by a dog and who was infected with rabies you would know that billions should be spent to stop this scourge. DARE to stand up against dogs! Only zero tolerance for dog users!

Not anymore then the war on poverty. Drugs will always be around and consumed until either of two things happen: Harsher penalties for users and pushers or enough die from using.

As a side bar you have to understand that once a problem is perceived and the govt goes about trying to solve it bureaucracies are set up and the only goal of a bureaucracy is to exist, grow and to seem needed so in effect the war on drugs will never end and will continue to be a HUGE waste off tax payer money. If the govt really wanted to curb the flow of drugs into this country then small bands of paramilitary troops could be inserted, supplied and given orders to kill and destroy the cartels that run the drug businesses down south.

It's a war that cannot be won because it isn't real. It only exists state, federal and private prisons can recieve funding off a new class of criminal: One who chooses to use drugs. It is crap and absolutely ridiculous and the people are 100% behind it. If you told someone a hundred years ago that you will one day be arrested for railing a line of blow, they wouldn't have believed you. People are going to use no matter what and a slavery class is heavily desired, since slavery is illegal so why not arrest a timeless class of people: The drug addict.

    Very informative!!!

No of course not. It is not a war that was meant to be won. It was meant to create an endless supply of prisoners for our privatized prison system, clog our judicial system with nonsense and keep the funding flowing to covert operations that mask themselves as drug busts outside the country to cover our meddling in foreign governments and give us false justification for meddling in said government on the off chance we are caught.

The drug war is ridiculous and creates addicts and junkies. Responsible adults are capable of responsible recreational drug use. The justification the drugs are bad for you and cause death is not a valid reason to make them illegal. Alcohol, cigarettes and junk food are all bad for you and cause not only death but horrific health problems in the short and long term but those are all still legal.

The War On Drugs will never be won because the government doesn't want that. They want to get all the big criminals to align with them and screw over anyone else in the process

Not as long as Obama is funding the enemy. He admitted to being a traitor in the war on drugs by using Cocaine and Marijuana.

no one will ever win the war on drugs there's to much many up for grabs

  • 1 decade ago

Only by legalizing and taxing them, thus undercutting the profit margins of the cartels and drug dealers.

Legalize and tax. We will not win using the policies we have now.

    Drug use will go down.

Source(s): People who use drugs are wasted anyhow, Good way to eraticate them from our suffering and decaying society produced by the left.
