Questions about Unlocked phones. Please help?

I have a few questions, my first is will an unlocked phone get better reception (more bars) I have att and love it but there are a few places were i loose signal and I would really like to get it there. I know unlocking the phone lets you put a different company's sim card in your phone. but I wanted to know if unlocking my phone will get better reception.

On that note. If i use an unlocked phone is there any added charges? I have free roaming so thats not an issue.

I know that theres cellphone terminals in that area because my phone goes to E911 mode.. meaning i can use it only to make 911 calls ..

LOL i dont know how else to explain it I hope you can help with that..

my last question is, if you get your phone unlocked (threw att ) does it void out any warranties you may have???

Thanks guys I hope some one can help!!!! and sorry for the poorly written questions My time is limited.. But thanks for any help you can give me ^_^

Thanks,

Adam

Update:

Thank you santobugito,

I am just doing it in hopes to get better reception (more bars) I dont plan on using it with a different server.

There looking in to the one spot but as far as signal loss in a store, the said it could be the "gsm" that could be having problmes. but the funny part is I can be on the phone when i walk in to this store i have no reception in. and talk the whole way threw it.. but as soon as i hang up. I loose signal. so its kind of funny and weird at the same time..

Again thank you for your post. I will leave this open for the rest of the day but I believe your best answer (kind of because your only answer lol and on the other hand its very informative ^_^)

Yes it voids the warranty, and you can't get insurance on it either. The phone MIGHT get better reception, say you take the at&t phone, put a Tmobile sim in it, you will get better reception in an area where there is only tmobile service. If your wanting an unlocked at&t phone, with at&t service, to get more reception in remote areas, there's no point. No added charges for using it, but you will have to change the internet settings if it's not an at&t phone so you can get pic messages and access the internet on it.

I wouldn't do it on the off chance you get better reception.

For that issue I'd say call at&t customer care, let them know where your loosing signal, and their tech guys can have a look at what's causing you to not get service there.
