isn't the only way to guarantee peace in Israel; the "one state" solution?
two state solution for sure would not bring a lasting peace. so if we want peace in Israel the one state would be the only option.
how would a lasting peace be possible ? please explore the pros and cons. of these solutions and provide rationalities to back up your solution. peace

How about a "no state" solution? Israel, itself, is the major hinderance to peace in the Middle East. Instead, it's time the international community take the bold step of reparation of the disastrous League of Nations Mandate of Palestine in the years after World War I. The borders of Israel and all of the other artificial states in the land of Palestine (Syria, Lebanon, as well as the Zionist state & its occupied territories) should be completely dismantled. From there, we allow a truly democratic process so that its true inhabitants can determine their own destiny.

The solution is already there-it needs ratification - the UN and Israel refuse.THE TWO -STATE solution. Israel for the Jews, West Bank and Gaza strips for the Palestinians, Jerusalem shared(currently, divided).
Three problems,1) Israel is bent on ANNEXING the West Bank and Gaza strips through ethnic cleansing(killing Palestinians protecting their lives and property by shooting homemade missiles into the Israelie invader's country) and land thefts.Israel's Likud (formerly the democratically elected murderous Jewish terrorist group, Irgun-ACTUALLY labeled as such by the British) REFUSE to recgnize its exact Arab counter part, the democratically elected Hamas, 2) The Israelies are using their LEAVE OR BE KILLED tactic of 1948 on the Palestinians. ONE HITCH-this time the Palestinians are staying and fighting the Israeli occupiers(IT IS NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND despite Israel's refute) for their land and lives, and, 3) For some reason, although the UN has even better grounds to ratify the West Bank and Gaza strips, Jerusalem divided or not, then they did AFTER Israel was created AGAINST UN recommendations, the UN refuses to act.
Israel is working on a one state-solution NOW through ethnic cleansing(killing Palestinians) and stealing land so that Israel is not a MAJORITY Arab population that would simply vote the Israelies OUT OF OFFICE. This is the very same reason, Israel refuses Palestinians "RIGHT of return".Once the Arab population of the West Bank and Gaza strips is below 50%, Israel plans on annexing them-HITCH-the Palestinians are staying and fighting instead of LEAVE OR BE KILLED as the Jews did in 1948.

The only clear way to peace will be for Israel to clamp down on their military acquisitions of land.
The USA should get the bloody hell out of any so-called mediation. They are more worried about arms profits and stirring up trouble in the Middle East. The US can not negotiate between the Palestinians and the Israelis when so much of the US arms profits are tied up in this continuous war and the US has a huge arms lobby pushing for ever increasing sales.
The US should quit vetoing every UN resolution passed by the UN in disfavour of Israeli actions. The UN was meant to operate with fair play and ethics. This seems impossible for the US to understand. No matter how much they act and behave like a dictatorship over our world, they are not and should learn to behave ethically instead of creating problems with their false help and the activities of the CIA terrorists.
Israel, if not being baby sat by the US, will be forced to find better ways to truly negotiate peace. As it stands they will continue their war without true thoughts of making peace with their neighbouring nations.
To finally guarantee peace will take many years as there are near insurmountable problems of hatred which will, historically speaking, last for decades. Peace will take a concerted effort over many years. Both sides will need the will power not to reply to instances of violence but will need to set up an agreeable rule of law to manage these problems which are sure to happen. If they continue to want two eyes for an eye then escalation of battles will recur and require more long hard diplomacy.
As for the aquifer and such negotiations are going to be difficult. Following oil water will be the next thing to fight over. I don't know what kind of state the aquifer is right now. I can only assume that with the high population in this mostly desert land that the aquifer is likely already compromised.

Don´t talk nonsense. The only Palestinians are Jews. Arabs are just this: Arabs who currently live in jewish Palestine. The Arab population of Israel is 1,2 million people - and decreasing. The Arab population of Judea and Samaria is 1,2 million people more, but they are not citizens of Israel - and will never be them. How can Israel solve the demographic problem? Very simple; by "squeezing" Arabs out of Judea and Samaria. Dana, 1. how many Arabs would there be now in jewish Palestine WITHOUT the !squeezes" in 1948 and 1967? 2. Israel made a mistake ; it did not "squeeze" the Arabs completely, let them procreate , bring families.... This mistake must not be repeated.

The so-called "palestinians" will never accept a two-state solution or a one-state solution. In a two-state solution, Israel would no doubt demand that the new "Palestine" be unarmed. The Palestinians would never accept that.
This is a problem that will never be resolved.

Yes the State of Israel becaue Israel is God's chosen people.
God gave Israel the Promised Land.
After WWII the UN helped Israel set up the current day Jewish State of Israel.
When first set up Israel offered the Palestinians peacefull co-existance.
Soon after the Palestinians started terroristic activities against the Israeli Government over Bibical Era disputes.
Israel should be left alone to settle any problems with the Palestinians unless there is a threat to the existance of Israel.
In that case the United States must support Israel.
You don't want to be fighting Israel on the last day.

I can say with 100% certainty that if Palestinian territory (and subsequently, Palestinians) were to be absorbed into greater Israel, it would invariably lead to the end of Israel as we know it. For Israel to annex Palestinian lands, there are two options with what to do with Palestinians themselves:
1. Include them in the democratic process--a measure that will most assuredly not go over well with more conservative Zionists. Giving Palestinians votes in the Knesset, combined with the already-existing progressive reformist groups that sympathize with Palestinians, would begin to marginalize the "Jewish state" aspect of Israel.
2. Establish apartheid rule--a measure that will most assuredly not solve any problems with terrorism or other paramilitary actions within Israeli borders, as well as inviting criticism (and likely violent intervention) by pro-Palestinian states and political organizations. Apartheid also has the legacy of having a very short lifespan. Eventually, democratic reforms would be forced up on the government, and option one goes through its paces.
If one presumes that Israel should and must survive in its present capacity, the only reasonable tact is to establish a separate Palestinian state. Otherwise, the Israel that we know today can be written off as a historical footnote, for better or for worse.
