then why when you ask someone where do they see god on earth they say a flower or a sunrise. God created down syndrome kids, and mushrooms, and ugly ducklings. So why is it only the beautiful stuff that god creates?

It's not only the beautiful stuff that He created... but people are probably reminded of Him when they are overwhelmed by the beauty in nature/people, if they believe in Him. It doesn't mean they don't think He created the "ugly" stuff.

Yes, God created every thing including the ugly and loathsome things.
He created the devils too.
