how easy is it to go from guitar to bass?
i've been playing guitar for like 5 years, and i'm starting a band with some friends. we've already got 3 guitarists, so i thought i'd sacrifice and play bass. i've messed around on a bass before, but how easy would it be for me to become good?

It will be easy if you are a bass player... meaning if you can get into and really feel out the deep rhythm. Bass is not like guitar in the way that you are not going to be doing any chords, melody (usually), or solos (usually). Fast fingers are not key here, it is really about feeling the music and getting into the bass groove.
Unless you are getting into some funk with lots of slap bass, you will just need a healthy passion in being the grounding force of the song.
