Puppy Training/Socialisation?

I take my 51/2 month GS puppy to socialisation and training classes on a monday when I can as it is not always possible to go due to me working nights and carry on his training and socialisation throughout the week.

However lately I've been wondering if once a week really makes a difference when I'm doing it all week long and walking him with other dogs for him to socialise him with I spend a lot of time training him at home and he is brilliant already.

I would appreciate all of your constructive views and opinions!

Puppy training classes are important as the dog should be trained to focus on the handler & ignore distraction like other dogs. Initially you only want a few distractions & over time, the level of distraction could be increased.

Puppy socialisation classes are not as important as a young pup being exposed to people, other dogs, animals and new environments and activities. The more positive and varied the young dog’s experiences are, the more rounded and confident they will be as an adult.

the training classes would help but after a while you will be able to train him yourself. as for the socialization classes don't bother.

i have never went to training or socialization classes but have owned 3 perfect dogs including my current one.

also there is so much info on the net why bother wasting money. just my opinion others may like the classes.

Don`t give up on your classes as you are both learning from that.

As far as socialization goes as long as your walking him with different dogs or have him around different dogs without any problems that`s ok, but you still need the obedience classes.

    Good Luck and God Bless
