just had gallbladder surgery but still having bad pains in my sternum?

You probably have some gas retained in your abdomen from the surgery under the sternum. Continue to take your pain medication, try some gas-x, and walk, walk, walk. Walking is really the only way you are going to get rid of that gas. I know it hurts, but you will feel better the more you walk. Also, avoid fatty foods.
If you have concern about chest pain, it is very common after this surgery. If the pain is worse with activity, accompanys shortness of breath, radiates to the jaw or the arm, then seek immediate medical attention. It may make you feel better to phone your surgeon and tell him whats going on.

Could be complications as a result of the surgery, or just tenderness left over from the procedure. However, if you're concerened, don't wait. Medical conditions can, and have overlapped in the past.

just got notice that the sternum and the hurting jaw are signs of a female heart attack so take a baby aspirin and get checked asap. otherwise it just might be from them handling you on the cots and tables. for that take some tylenol.

how long ago is "just"? i too had my gallbladder removed and had some pain for several days post op. if you feel it's pain that is beyond the surgery itself, then please don't wait and go see your surgeon.
